Boney Kapoor had recently opened up about his brother Anil Kapoor being upset with him over not being cast in No Entry 2. Now, the producer has revealed that they currently aren’t on talking terms, but he also said that the “issue” has been “blown out of proportion.” Boney has backed some of Anil’s biggest films, and is responsible for launching him in the Hindi film industry. They’ve previously worked together on projects such as Mr India, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Judaai, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, among others.

Boney has said that it was the director Aneez Bazmee’s call to not cast Anil in the No entry 2, which will reportedly star Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. Anil was a part of No Entry (2005), which starred Salman Khan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitly, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol. The film recently celebrated its 18th anniversary.

When asked if the decision to not cast Anil in No entry 2 has strained his relationship with Anil, Boney told News18 Showsha, “We are brothers and we love each other!”

Explaining how what he said was blown out of proportion, Boney continued, “Yesterday, there were some people interviewing me and they asked me how has Anil reacted, so I said that he is upset with me, that he is not talking to me. Now, I had to be honest, I just can’t… but at the same time, I know that blood is thicker than water, and we’ve been very very close. I love him too dearly, I just can’t do anything to hurt him. This is something professional, so I have to follow the diktat of the director, who calls the shots.”

Boney said that they’ll soon “get back to normal”. He said, “So, I’ll continue making films when the role is right, when the script is there. He would be my first choice if the role suits him. I love him too dearly too to remain upset, I mean I am not upset today, he is upset, but I’ll work my way to see that he gets back to normal.”

When asked if he tried talking to him, Boney said, “Yes, I made a few calls… but it’s ok, I’ll give him some time.”

“See, you have these ups and downs amongst the people you love the most. Husband-wife have their own quarrels, friends have their own quarrels, brothers also have their own issues. No quarrel, there is not a quarrel, there is an issue and they resolve over time. He is too dear to me, I’ll make an effort to see that he’s back again talking to me and all that and it’ll be fine,” he added.

Filmmaker Anees Bzmee also reacted to the alleged rift between the two brothers. He told Hindustan Times, “This is news to me. Thodi bahut naraazgi hogi. I haven’t been able to speak to Boney ji as I was busy shooting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. No Entry was an important film. Agar uske sequel mein nahin hain toh naturally aadmi ko hurt hoga. Boney ji must have had his reasons, too.”
