Bobby Deol recalls Dharmendra beating up his fan, later brought him home and gave him clothes: ‘He’s a man of action, doesn’t need words’

Bobby Deol recounted a moment when Dharmendra, after a physical altercation with an overly enthusiastic fan, brought him home and offered him milk.

Dharmendra will next be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming war drama, Ekkis.Dharmendra once beat up a fan who had pushed things too far.

Veteran actor Dharmendra, once famously known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, has long enjoyed a deep and wide fan following. Even today, at the age of 89, his charm hasn’t faded. A quick scroll through his Instagram feed reveals countless comments from admirers praising not just his legendary career, but also his solid commitment to fitness and grace in old age. But like many iconic stars, Dharmendra has had to deal with overzealous fans, and in some of those moments, Dharmendra has lost his temper.

In a recent conversation with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Bobby Deol, Dharmendra’s younger son and brother to Sunny Deol, recalled one such incident from his childhood when his father beat up a fan. “He’s never made anyone feel not special. He makes everyone he meets feel very special. He gives them so much respect and so much love, and that’s a rare quality to have. There have been times where, obviously, some fans have gone and done something stupid, and he’s beaten them up,” Bobby shared, leaving the host shocked.

Bobby explained the incident when his father beat up a fan and shared, “Because when new fans come, they don’t know how to interact. They just get so excited. They might say something stupid or behave badly. And I was there watching it, wondering, ‘Why is my dad doing that?’ That man finally just fell at his feet and said, ‘I love you, sir. I’m sorry.’ My dad didn’t want to do it either, but the fan must have said something that really hurt him.”

Despite what had happened, Dharmendra’s instinct was to bring the fan home and take care of him. “Then Dad brought him inside, made him sit down, gave him milk to drink, food to eat, and even clothes. That’s just how he is. He’s a man of action, he doesn’t need words. If anyone upset my dad, then that’s it. People keep talking about my brother’s ‘dhai kilo ka haath,’ but you haven’t seen my dad’s hand. It’s like twenty kilos,” Bobby added with a smile.

In the same conversation, Bobby had also opened up about the strict and sheltered childhood he had, driven by his father’s fear for his children’s safety. Dharmendra had been warned about the notorious child kidnappers Ranga and Billa, prompting him to keep Bobby within the confines of their home. “My father didn’t let me leave the house at all. I returned from school and that was it. I even learned cycling inside my house. In college, when my friends started having house parties, I wasn’t allowed to go. I had a 9 pm curfew. I would go to friends’ houses, help them set up for parties, and leave,” he said.

While Bobby Deol is currently enjoying a fresh wave of success with Aryan Khan’s show The Bads of Bollywood, Dharmendra is set to appear next in Sriram Raghavan’s much-anticipated war drama Ekkis.
