Fans are going gaga over Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut with The Ba***ds of Bollywood and lauding Aryan for taking the show’s self-aware comedy to expose the industry’s fake friendships and double standards. Not just fans, even brands are now making the most of the show’s brand of comedy. Recently, boAt released a new advertisement with the cast of the show and it seems to be an extension of The Ba***ds of Bollywood.

The ad shows the show’s cast — Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Anya Singh, Sahher Bambba, and Mona Singh — dancing at a club where the music is so loud that they couldn’t hear each other. They take this opportunity to say mean things about each other. The ad shows Bobby telling Lakshya that he can’t hear anything because of the loud music; this prompts the young star to say, “You can’t hear anything. You like the music? You will like it kyuki aap DJ jo nahi ho, ‘Naiyo Naiyo.’ (You will like it because you are not the DJ)” Bobby played DJ during his low phase, leading to trolling.

Similarly, Bobby pokes fun at Lakshya and says that he doesn’t remember his name despite working with him for 100 days. “Are you Siddhant Chaturvedi?” Bobby says, taking a subtle dig at the 2019 round table conference, when Siddhant famously called Ananya Panday privileged. This was the exact scene which was recreated for The Ba**ds of Bollywood*.

In the next scene, Anya uses the same tactic to target Mona Singh. She kisses her on the cheeks and says, “Wow you look so hideous. What happened to your face? You were better off looking like Jassi.” A reference to Mona Singh’s hit TV show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. They are also seen discussing paparazzi culture and how celebrities call paparazzi to spot them at different locations.

Raghav then asks, “Who has taken Ozempic, put your hands up?” Not being able to hear him, Manoj Pahwa puts his hands up — a subtle dig at celebrities who claim to lose weight naturally but are alleged users of Ozempic.

The music stops as Ranveer Singh calls Raghav’s phone, and the crowd hears Gully Boy say, “Are you partying with Bollywood people? Be careful, these guys are bloody bas….” Later, the brand’s co-founder Aman Gupta enters the frame, and Lakshya prevents Raghav from insulting him as Aman is paying the whole bill of the party.
