Bhavana Pandey recalls being embarrassed by her relatives’ reaction to Rekha, Salman Khan at her engagement with Chunky Panday

“We had a huge engagement in Delhi and Chunky and all the actors flew down for the ceremony. In those days, seeing actors was not that common. We had Rekha and Salman Khan and people were going crazy. I was so embarrassed because, forget my relatives, my own sisters and everyone were going crazy seeing all the actors. I was like, ‘Oh my god what should I do?’ I was so embarrassed, but my father-in-law told me a very nice thing then. He was like, ‘Listen, if people did not react to them like this then they have something to worry about’,” Bhavana shared during a chat with Mid-day.

After 26 years of marriage, what’s the secret to their successful relationship? Bhavana believes it’s all about keeping the friendship alive. “Friendship always stays. If that is the core of a relationship then I think it will work out. You have to fight with your husband like you would fight with your friend. But forgive and make up with them too as you would do with your friends,” she said.

Bhavana also discussed their vow renewal ceremony, which was featured towards the end of the latest season of her reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. During the ceremony, when the couple shared a kiss, Ananya and Rysa were seen shyly closing their eyes. Mentioning that she has also felt awkward about public displays of affection (PDA), Bhavana said that Chunky, however, is the exact opposite. She also recalled his response to the girls’ reaction to their kiss, “He came back and fired all of us. He was like, ‘Excuse me, it’s my wife. It’s not like I was going and kissing some other woman. It’s the same girl I’ve been married to for the last 25 years. How can you all have an objection to that’.”
