Manoj Bajpayee‘s revenge drama Bhaiyya Ji, directed by Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai director Apoorv Singh Karki, released to mixed reviews on Friday. Bhaiyya Ji, which is Manoj’s 100th film is a landmark film in his career as this sees him in a leading role in a massy film.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Bhaiyya Ji, on its opening day, earned Rs 1.30 crore at the box office. The collection of this film is far superior to Manoj’s last theatrical film Joram, which in its one week run in theatres earned only Rs 40 lakh (according to Bollywood Hungama).

Bhaiyya Ji observed an overall 9.45 percent Hindi occupancy on Friday, with most people, almost 12 percent of the viewers, catching the film’s night shows. In Mumbai, where there were 325 shows running, the occupancy stood at 8.75 percent. Whereas in Delhi and NCR, the occupancy was 9.50 percent with 457 shows.

Bhaiyya Ji’s box office collections could improve over the weekend as the film is not facing much competition from any other Hindi film. Hollywood film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is doing better than Manoj’s film as it made more than Rs 2 crore on both Thursday and Friday, taking its overall collection to Rs 4.05 crore. Mammootty starred Turbo is also in the theatres and that too, is performing better than Manoj’s film. As per Sacnilk, Turbo has made Rs 10 crore in its first two days.

Manoj Bajpayee is primarily known for delivering credible films and in the last few years, his audience has started to enjoy his work on OTT platforms. He is not known for delivering box office hits but he is surely known for being a bankable actor who supports good cinema.
