Badshah says he launched his own music channel after fight with MTV, got into pharmaceutical and alcohol business: ‘Main lut gaya’
Badshah, over the years, experimented with several business ideas including clubs, restaurants, beer brand, a pharmaceutical brand, and even a production company, among other things.
Badshah reveals his businesses apart from music.(Instagram/badboybadshah)Badshah, who started his career with rapper Honey Singh, has become a brand in himself over the years. While he is popularly known for his singing, rapping, and music skills, Badshah also keeps an interest in creating different revenue streams. In a recent interview, the rapper revealed the many businesses he has tried to set up over the years – from a pharmaceutical brand to alcoholic beverages. He also recalled how he launched his own TV channel after a fight with MTV, which damaged his finances.
In a conversation with The Lallantop, Badshah listed the many businesses he started over the years. He said, “I had a fight with MTV with regards to placement. So I took it to my ego and decided to launch a television channel of my own, which would leave MTV behind. It was called Aho. We did beat them in terms of TRP, par main lut gaya (but I incurred losses). We changed the game, we were playing independent songs. We reached out to regional kids, we played their songs. This boosted our ratings. But we had to shut it down.”
The rapper further revealed, “I have also sold medicines. A friend suggested me that pharmaceutical business has good money, I thought I will try. We sold paracetamol, antibiotics under our brand. It was called Apus Life. But it didn’t earn me any money. So we shut that down too.”
The rapper is also the owner of a clothing line, a beer brand, and several restaurants and clubs. He said, “I own several clubs and restaurants in Delhi and Mumbai. In Chandigarh, I own a restaurant called Civil. I also have a lounge there. I have a beer brand too, which is mostly sold in North India. Its a nice beer. I don’t drink, but I tasted them all.”
Revealing the reason behind experimenting with so many business ideas, Badshah said, “I am quite interested in creating revenue streams other than music. I want to see how far can I take it and how far can I leverage my brand.” He added, “I also have a production house and a clothing line.”
Badshah is famously known for his songs Genda Phool, Kar Gayi Chul, Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, Garmi, and DJ Walery Babu, among others.
