Bad Cop trailer: Anurag Kashyap’s dreaded gangster wants you to recite ABCD on this show which has a Karan Arjun twist
Bad Cop stars Gulshan Devaiah, Anurag Kashyap, Harleen Sethi and Saurabh Sachdeva in pivotal roles. The action thriller is set to release on June 21.

The pop culture question ‘Mere Karan Arjun kab aayege?’ has been answered as the duo has returned, but not in the form of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, but Gulshan Devaiah. The actor plays a double role, of the cop Karan and his thief brother Arjun in Disney Plus Hotstar’s latest series Bad Cop.
The streamer dropped the trailer of the show on Friday. The show also stars filmmaker Anurag Kashyap as a gangster, actor Harleen Sethi as a righteous police officer and Animal actor Saurabh Sachdeva as a CBI officer investigating a murder.
The over two-minute trailer is packed with action set pieces–bikes crashing, bullets pumping, actors flying–and witty one liners, written by Hussain Dalal (Farzi, Brahmastra, Fighter). The trailer sets up the two brothers, played by Gulshan, who land in a cat and mouse game as a murder is investigated and a jailed gangster, Kazbe Mama, played by Anurag Kashyap, threatens to make the matter worse.
Produced by Fremantle India and directed by Aditya Datt, the Rensil D’Silva penned series is a reimagination of the original German drama of the same name. Bad Cop also stars Aishwarya Sushmita.

Anurag Kashyap said his Bad Cop character Kazbe mama is a one-of-a-kind villain, whose aura is “charismatic and lethal” at the same time. The filmmaker said he was inspired by Nana Patekar from Parinda and Irrfan Khan from Haasil to play his part well.
“I was scared and skeptical when shooting for gore scenes as opposed to my films. Kazbe is powerful, hard-hitting and I drew traits from many of the negative characters that I had created, to prepare for this role.
“I had no process for Kazbe, in fact I was inspired by Nana Patekar from Parinda and Irrfan Khan from Haasil. I take the script only before I shoot it and the dialogue writer would help me on how to approach it. It’s cathartic for me to play a negative character and I take it all out of my system. I hope audiences enjoy me in this avatar,” he said in a statement.

Gulshan Devaiah said his characters are identical twins with different personalities. “I think the most challenging aspect of playing the characters started from there because I had to do a lot of action scenes, which I’d admit wasn’t easy at all. I had to physically and mentally prepare myself first. I think playing the twins in Bad Cop has been the most amazing time I’ve had in my career until now and I really hope the masses find it fun too.”
Harleen Sethi, who plays the righteous cop Devika, said she was initially skeptical to take on the role. “Devika is everything a woman would want to be; she is powerful, fierce, witty, resilient, fights for her right in her personal life and believes that she is not inferior or superior to anyone around her. She holds her own in the male-dominated police workforce and has a clear vision for what she wants. Somewhere, she is torn between balancing her career and marriage with Karan, which has a domino effect on her surroundings,” the actor said.
Bad Cop will release on Disney Plus Hotstar on June 21.
