Ayushmann Khurrana cross-dresses as Pooja in Dream Girl 2 first look poster; leaves fans excited

Ayushmann Khurrana shared a poster of his upcoming film, Dream Girl 2 on social media. In the poster, he donned two avatars, one as Pooja and another as Karam.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s first look from Dream Girl 2, the second instalment of the successful 2019 film, Dream Girl, was unveiled on Tuesday. The film, also starring Ananya Panday, will hit the theatres on August 25.

In the first look of the film, Ayushmann has donned two avatars, one as Pooja and another as Karam. As Pooja, he is seen wearing a blouse and a skirt. He has long tresses and is looking into the mirror as he applies lipstick. On the other side of the mirror is Ayushmann as Karam, dressed in a pink t-shirt.

Earlier, drag avatars of Kamal Haasan (in Chachi 420) and Govinda (in Aunty No 1) are often remembered. Now, if Ayushmann would succeed in this time-tested trope of cross-dressing men as women for easy laughs, remains to be seen.

Helmed by Raaj Shaandilya, the film revolves around the character of Karam (Ayushmann Khurrana), a small-town boy who is trying to make it big. Eventually, he falls in love with Pari (Ananya Panday), after which there is a major turn of events where in lies the ultimate twist of the film.

Sharing the first look poster of Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann wrote on Instagram, “Yeh toh sirf pehli jhalak hai. Objects in the mirror are more khoobsurat than they appear (This is just the first look) 😉❤️,” As the poster was unveiled, many social media users praised Ayushmann for his transformation. His wife Tahira Kashyap loved the poster as she left a heart eyes emoji and a fire emoji in the comments section. Actor Amruta Kahnvilkar wrote, “Areeee koi seeti bajao”. A fan added. “Can’t wait for this.” Another wrote, “soooo excited.”

Before releasing the first look of the film, the makers of Dream Girl 2 kept the fans excited about it with various teasers that featured the voices of famous characters from Bollywood dramas, including Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan and Ranveer Singh as Rocky from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Talking about Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann earlier said, “I am super stoked about Dream Girl 2! This is my second outing with Balaji Motion Pictures and I am thankful to Ektaa that she has carried this franchise forward and made it bigger. I have found a friend in Raaj and its exciting to team up with him again. Ananya Panday has been paired with me and I am looking forward to see the audience reaction to our chemistry.”
