As Karisma Kapoor’s children battle with stepmom Priya in court over Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 cr estate, here’s who said what
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's kids Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Kapoor have accused their stepmother Priya Kapur (Sunjay’s third wife) of forging his will and attempting to take complete control of the assets.

Amid the ongoing feud over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore estate, his children with ex-wife Karisma Kapoor — Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Kapoor — have reportedly moved the Delhi High Court, seeking their rightful share in their father’s property. Represented by their mother Karisma, the two children have accused their stepmother Priya Kapur (Sunjay’s third wife) of forging his will and demanding their share in the estate, as per a report in Bar and Bench.
The suit names Priya Kapur, her minor son, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur, and the purported executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah, as accused. The complaint was filed after a dispute on March 21, 2025, when a will allegedly leaving Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya Kapur surfaced.
The children have further alleged that their stepmother suppressed the will for over seven weeks before revealing it at a family meeting on July 30, 2025. The report say they have asked the court to declare them Class I legal heirs and to pass a decree of partition granting them a one-fifth share each in their father’s assets. Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married for 13 years. Here’s everything that happened in the family ever since Sunjay Kapur’s death in London.
Sunjay’s sister accused Priya of coercing their mother into signing papers
Earlier, Mandhira Kapur, sister of Sunjay Kapur, accused Priya of forcefully making their mother, Rani Kapur, sign certain papers. Rani had also written to the board of directors of Sona Comstar, alleging she had been “forced to sign documents behind locked doors”and “left to the mercy of a select few for survival.”
Mandhira claimed that “a bunch of people,” including Priya, cornered Rani into signing company papers. For the unversed, days after Sunjay’s death, Priya was appointed as a Non-Executive Director at Sona Comstar.
In an interview with Republic, Mandhira alleged, “What papers are they not showing us that they’d gotten signed in this 13-day period that they’ve taken over? My mother was made to sign papers behind locked doors. And this wasn’t once, but twice.”
She added, “I was standing at the door banging on it. She was grieving. There were two doors, actually — a door inside and a door outside. So she couldn’t hear me. The bottom line is she signed some papers during the mourning period. She was in deep grief. She came to me and said, ‘I don’t know what papers I’ve signed.’ And since then, we’ve been asking and getting no response. So, what are you hiding from us? I think this will all unfold at some point, and the truth will come out.”
Mandhira called Karisma a ‘good mother’ who is ‘looking out for her kids’
In another interview to NDTV, Mandhira had appreciated Karisma Kapoor’s role in their family before and after Sunjay’s death. “She is a mother. She is a very good mother, I have to give her that. She has done a very good job of letting the family be one, which is…you know..I commend her in that. I think the kids have been close, and they’ve had a great relationship. Hopefully somehow, we can carry that on and let the family be one again because she is looking out for her kids like any mother would, and that’s what she is doing.”
She had also said that Karisma and Priya have been in touch after Sunjay’s death. “Yes, of course. I am sure she is in touch with Priya (Sunjay’s widow Priya Sachdev Kapur) too. The fact is we’ve all had a good relationship. The kids have been coming to see mom. We are all in touch. This is not meant to be a family feud”.
Rani Kapur demanded a probe into Sunjay’s death
Sunjay Kapur died in June in a freak accident while playing polo, after suffering cardiac arrest. At the time of his death, reports suggested he suffered the attack after accidently swallowing a bee. Following his death, his mother, Rani Kapur, demanded a probe, expressing doubts about the circumstances.
In an interview with ANI, Rani said, “I still don’t know what happened to my son. I’m old now, and I need closure before I go. I may be old and frail, but my memory of being with my husband when Sona was set up is strong. I remember the early days of Sona, built with care, sacrifice, and love. I’m here to remind the world that our family legacy must not be lost. It must be passed on as my husband always wanted it to be. Given my health and my age, I will not be making any further comments. My legal team will address everything necessary.”
Priya Kapur on her bond with Samaira and Kiaan
Earlier, Priya had spoken in an interview with Kin and Kindness about her relationship with Karisma and Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan. Explaining her blended household dynamics, she said, “We have four children — Samaira, the oldest, then Safira, Kiaan, and my and Sunjay’s son, Azarias. It’s a blended family.”
Speaking about her bond with Karisma’s children, she added, “When my son Azarias was born, he was the glue. He brought the family together because he is half them and half Safira. Our two daughters are very close — Samaira and Safira. We all have grown to love and appreciate each other.”
Priya maintained that while she could never replace their mother, she had a space in their lives. “I can never be their mother but I know I have a space in their world and their hearts. We talk about all sort of fun, frivolous, and serious stuff. I have a bond with them,” she said.
