Arshad Warsi, who is still loved for his performance in Sanjay Dutt-starrer Munna Bhai MBBS, recently shared that a lot of his jokes in the film were written on the spot by him. He shared that looking at his surroundings, he would come up with small bits and share them with director Rajkumar Hirani, who would think about them and ask him to go ahead with them In an interview with Mashable India, the actor said, "I honestly don't watch my work a lot. Sometimes if I see myself on television, and I think, 'Not bad, this is funny.' Most of the things I have done in Munna Bhai are improvised. It's all extempore." He then talked about the scene where he kidnaps a foreigner in his medical van and how he came up with the jokes that made it to the final cut. "Initially, I was supposed to say, 'Do you want to meet Madhuri Dixit? She is sitting in van. She looks super.' Then they all said no, let's not do this. Then we did all the poor hungry people. All extempore," he said. He added, "It simply comes to my mind when I am on set. It's different to sit in an AC room and write a script than when you come and set and meet the people. The people tell you a whole different story. When you see a situation, the whole narration changes, which I did in this film. Let's not make the script, patthar ki lakeer." Recalling how these lines come to him, he said, "When I had to shoot with this junior artist, he happened to be about six feet tall. So when I saw him, it just came to my mind and I said, 'Yeh 6 foot ka hai, ise mai 2-2 feet ka teen bana dunga.' One doesn't think that 'I am going to keep a tall guy and then I will say this. No, it doesn't." Arshad said, "Raju is a good editor. It was so funny, I wish someone captured that. So what used to happen was I would come to him and tell him, 'Raju aisa karein kya? Usko mai chilli chicken bulata hu' and then Raju suddenly goes to his fast-forward mode and be like, 'Haan, yeh acha lagega'. In his head, he does the editing of where he will place what scene." He added, "He has got a great sense of humour, he would grab it. Most of the assistants wouldn't get it. They would not understand that 'What's so funny in this.' It is only later when you watch it is when you find it funny." Munna Bhai MBBS, released in 2003, became a major critical and commercial success. I spent six months on a script, reach the interval, and it just wouldn’t go beyond that. There is a Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka, and more.'" He also revealed, "I think Sanju might just come home and threaten me to get done with the next. He really wants to do another Munna Bhai film."
