Anusha Dandekar has been in the entertainment industry for over 20 years now and in a recent interview, the actor-host recalled the time when she ended up in the hospital as a teenager because of alcohol. Anusha shared that the experience scarred her so badly that she never drank like that again. Anusha was in conversation with actor Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, as she spoke about her “worst vice” and why she never wanted to do the “wrong thing.” In a chat shared on Dr Madhu Chopra’s YouTube channel, Anusha was asked about her vices, given that she is in an industry which is notorious for indulging in things that could be harmful for one’s mental and physical health. “Diet Coke is probably my worst vice ever,” she shared with a laugh and added, “I credit my parents for trusting me and giving me a lot of freedom. I just didn't want to do the wrong thing.” Anusha Dandekar then shared, “Have I tried alcohol? Yeah. I ended up in the hospital when I was 14 because it tasted like passion fruit and I thought it was really yummy so I drank the whole thing. The nurse said to my father, ‘Don’t be mad at her, she will never drink alcohol like that again.’ Correct.” Anusha added that she never wanted to try any kind of drugs either. “Never wanted to try a drug in my life. Ever. Have I tried cigarettes? Of course. It’s gross and I don't like the smell.” Anusha Dandekar shared that she moved to Mumbai, from Australia, when she was just 20 and she was quite mindful of the opportunity that she had received with MTV as a VJ. “I moved to India when I was 20. This is the time where I could have gone raging and whatever and… it went reverse. I became super responsible. I got an apartment. I had a job because MTV gave it to me and I would never take that for granted. I don't know if that was instilled with really good choices but I never did that,” she shared. Anusha laughed and shared that everyone has always asked her manager if she is “taking” something, but that’s not the case. “Everyone has always asked my manager, ‘What is she taking?’ Because I am so hyperactive, I am thin, my eyes are very light, they do look glassy sometimes. And she is like, ‘She won’t even drink wine at an event.' So I don’t know, I was really lucky,” she said.
