Actor Sunny Leone made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 with the action-thriller Kennedy. She was accompanied by the film’s director Anurag Kashyap and her co-actor Rahul Bhat. Ever since the film’s premiere at the prestigious film festival, Kashyap has been all praise of Sunny. In fact, in one of his interviews, he revealed that he decided to cast Sunny in the movie after watching her maintain her composure and give it back to the journalist in her infamous interview, which happened in 2016.

Recalling how Sunny held her own while the interviewer tried to shame her for her career in adult films, Kashyap told Hindustan Times, “The way she gave it back to him I knew she was special.” The filmmaker, after having worked with her closely, is sad that people do not see Sunny “beyond her past.”

Kashyap added, “I see her as a mom. What an incredible mother she is. It is such a sad thing that people don’t see beyond her past and beyond her face and body. Look into her eyes. There is so much more you will see in her.”

In a latest interview with Brut, Sunny Leone had also revisited the infamous interview and shared how, more than the questions, it was the tone in which they were asked, which hurt her. Though Sunny received the support of people when the interview was released, still it left her devastated. She said, “No one should be treated that way. It was the worst feeling. It took me a little bit to come out of it.” However, she is happy that people got to know that she too ‘is a human’ after the interview.
