Annu Kapoor, who held a press conference for his controversial film Hamare Baarah after its release on Friday, made headlines after asking “Who is Kangana Ranaut?” On Friday, during a media interaction, the veteran actor was asked about the security personnel who slapped actress and MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport. Annu’s reply shocked people present at the venue and now internet.

Replying to the question, Annu, who first failed to recognise Kangana, said the actress-turned-politician should take legal action against the security personnel.

A video of the incident from the press meet is now going viral on social media. In the video, a media person can be heard asking, “What do you have to say about Kangana’s slap incident?” To this, the actor says, “First tell me who is Kangana? If you are asking me about her, I am sure she must be some big heroine. Who is she? Is she beautiful?” Then someone from the crowd informs him that she is a recently elected MP from Mandi. To this, Annu says, “Now she is an MP too? Then she is powerful.”

He adds, “I was already jealous that she was pretty because I am not, on top of that she holds power. And you are telling me that some officer slapped her? On learning that she was, the actor said in that case Kangana should definitely file an FIR under several sections against her.

A day after election results, when Kangana Ranaut was heading to Delhi, she was slapped by a security personnel at the Chandigarh airport. Soon, the actress took to her social media handles to let her fans know that she was safe but expressed concern over the incident. It was then reported that the accused CISF constable was suspended after the incident.

Meanwhile, Annu Kapoor’s Hamare Baarah, directed and produced by Ravi S Gupta, was in the headlines for allegedly targeting a particular religion. The film’s release was also put on hold. However, on Wednesday, the Bombay high court granted permission to release the film after the petitioners and filmmakers agreed to certain edits suggested by the court. The makers of the movie were also fined ₹5 lakh for releasing a trailer featuring uncertified scenes. The film, which was initially scheduled to release on July 7, finally released on June 21.
