Anjali Anand says she was having ‘panic attacks’ during audition for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: ‘Took 200 takes and four hours’

Anjali Anand, who played the role of Gayatri Randhawa in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, is getting a lot of love for her performance in the film and in a recent interview, she revealed that it took her 200 takes and four hours to make her audition tape. Anjali said that she was having “panic attacks” while recording her audition because she was so certain that this was not going to happen for her.

In a chat with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, Anjali said that it was more than enough for her when Shanoo Sharma (casting director) called her and informed that she was being considered for the role. “It was enough for me when Shanoo called me and said, ‘People have told Karan your name and I’ve shown him your photos on Instagram. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so bad at Instagram,'” she shared. But since Karan wanted to see her perform, Shanoo sent her a scene of four lines and asked her to send an audition.

“On TV, I can do a scene of 15 pages in one take without hesitation, in full confidence. I am proud of that. But here, for doing four lines, I was having panic attacks. I have taken 200 takes to do that and I’m not even joking. Because I was talking and there were tears falling out of my eyes that it’s not going to happen. I already knew it was not going to happen before even trying for it and then it happened,” she shared.

Anjali Anand said that when she saw her last take, she was actually happy with her performance and recollected herself. “I saw my last take and I was like this is so good what is wrong with you. Because you know, you have that sense to tell what is good what is not good. I saw it and thought it was so good, it was so simple. What the hell did you do for the last 4 hours?”

Anjali said that she sent the video to Shanoo, who then sent it Karan and she was locked for the film, and she couldn’t believe her luck.
