Anil Kapoor and Sunita’s love story…

Anil and Sunita have had quite an interesting love story. Anil had shared earlier that it all started with a prank call. Back in 1973, when Anil Kapoor was still trying to make his mark in the industry and would run between auditions, he met Sunita who was a model back then. Talking about his love story in an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor had revealed that one of his friends had given his number to Sunita, who was a successful model back then, and asked her to make a prank call to Anil. Anil was hooked as soon as she heard her voice.

“When I first spoke to her, I fell in love with her voice. I thought, ‘Oh God, what a beautiful voice yaar, kya English bolti hai, pronunciation is so well.’ I met her for the first time at Raj Kapoor’s house,” Anil had said. While the two became friends, Anil used to discuss another girl he liked with Sunita. They met on several occasions and eventually fell in love. In 2022, the actor spoke about his love story with Sunita to Bollywood Bubble and had said, “Our love story began on the phone, a landline, and then we became close friends. Of course, then we met, fell in love, and that’s where it began. From friendship, we felt that we were compatible in every department, in every which way, as they say, marriages are made in heaven.”

Well, before taking the plunge, Anil and Sunita were in a long courtship of about 10 to 11 years. Anil asked Sunita to marry her only after he signed his first film, Meri Jung. In one of his earlier interviews, Anil had revealed how he proposed to Sunita to get married the next day, and they did. He resumed work three days later, while she went on their honeymoon without him. He had also revealed how, during his struggling phase, Sunita would often pay bills on their dates, without making him feel awkward. “When I met her, I was not doing very well financially. She would take care of a lot of things, and that’s how we shared the load. She stepped forward to share the load where money was concerned. There were times when I couldn’t afford certain things, sometimes we’d go to a normal restaurant, sometimes we’d go to a slightly better restaurant when we were dating each other. She would quickly slip some money out of her bag, and before I could come to know, she’s already paid the bill,” he recalled.

Anil Kapoor had also told Bollywood Bubble, “I was the bad guy, it’s all hats off to her, how she managed this relationship.” Anil Kapoor and Sunita got married in 1984.
