Anil Kapoor surprised everyone on Saturday when he shared a new advertisement, in which he reprised his iconic role as Mr India. While the ad inspired new demands for a Mr India sequel, the original film’s director Shekhar Kapur seemed amused at how little Anil seems to have aged much in the last three decades.

In the ad, Anil Kapoor’s character Arun’s young aide Jugal enters a haunted mansion. As he is about to drop an ornate vase, the invisible Mr India arrives on the scene and catches it before it falls to the ground. As the film’s theme plays in the background, Anil appears on screen and the two try to find a ‘secret gadget’. After they discover a smartphone, the words ‘to be continued’ appear on the screen, hinting that the ad might get a sequel before the movie does.

The actor took to his Instagram to share the video, and wrote, “The beauty of time, the thing that makes it so precious, is that it never stands still. Our lives are full of highs and lows , appearances and disappearances… Mr. India is a phenomenon that even time could not erase, at once a ghost and the most real person I have ever played. And now, 38 years later, Mr. India is back with the Google #Pixel8! In flesh and unfiltered, just the time-tested and timeless soul of Arun Verma reappearing to entertain and thrill you. So watch this screen carefully because this superhero has been known to disappear at the drop of his hat ”

Fans could not hold their excitement as they dropped heartfelt comments on the post. Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh also wrote, “How good are you looking 🤗❤️ it’s like you have found a new gadget to go back In time and look the same 🤗❤️. Please please please make MR.INDIA 2🙏🏻🙏🏻,” while Nikhil Dwivedi added, “Was this commercial shot in 1987 and kept in the cold storage until now?? Because How’s this even possible? Time can’t freeze!! 😳😳😳.” Some of the fans messages read, “How in this earth is it freaking possible that this man is still looking the same even after almost 35 years, since this film was released,” and, “Mr India’s sequel should have come out already. Even this recreation in a mobile phone ad gave me goosebumps,” and, “Just make the sequel already!”

Anil Kapoor’s brother, Mr India producer Boney Kapoor gave more reasons for fans to be excited, as he shared the video with the caption, “Work in progress for a big screen appearance. #MrIndia #MrIndia2 @AnilKapoor.”

Shekhar Kapur wondered how Anil Kapoor hasn’t aged over the years. “So #MrIndia decided to be invisible for the last 30 years and now suddenly re-emerged! How come he looks the same? Maybe the bracelet doesn’t just give you power of invisibility, but also eternal youth!” he wrote on X.

Released in 1987, Mr India has attained cult status among fans The film also starred Sridevi, Amrish Puri and Satish Kaushik.
