Amid legal feud, Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdeva mark Sunjay Kapur’s birthday with emotional tributes. See pictures

Both Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdeva shared their birthday tributes to Sunjay Kapur on their Instagram stories.

Earlier, Priya had also shared a video montage featuring moments with Sunjay, herself, and his children. The caption read: “‘Whatever action a great man performs, others follow. Whatever path he walks, the world pursues. He who lives with purpose and love never perishes, for the divine dwells in all who serve with devotion.’ — Bhagavad Gītā 3.21, 9.31, 9.29.”

These tributes come as tensions mount over Sunjay Kapur’s contested will. Karisma’s children, represented by their mother as legal guardian, have taken Priya to court, accusing her of forging the document. The siblings claim their father had “repeatedly assured” them of their rightful share, which was missing from the version of the will presented by Priya. The disputed document was allegedly executed on March 21 and was shown to the family during a meeting on July 30. The matter is currently being heard in the Delhi High Court, with both sides levelling serious allegations against each other. Adding to the controversy, Sunjay’s sister, Mandira Kapur Smith, recently spoke out in an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani. She accused Priya of playing a role in the breakdown of Sunjay’s marriage with Karisma Kapoor.

Mandira said, “I had known about them (Priya and Sunjay) since they met on that flight, and I wasn’t happy about it. Lolo (Karisma) and Sanjay, my brother, were in a good place, actually. Kian was born. My brother was obsessed with his kids. I think for another woman to not care about a woman who’s just had a child is in bad taste. To come and disrupt a family is in bad taste. And I will leave it there. I think the world knows what I’m saying. You don’t break up a happy marriage. Not even a happy marriage, you don’t break up a marriage that is trying to work on keeping a family together. When you’ve got a child, you’ve just had another child, you step aside and say, ‘You know what?’ Or you encourage the man to go back and make it work. You don’t destroy a marriage. And Lolo did not deserve that. Lolo was also working very hard to make this marriage work. She did not deserve what came to her.”

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto components manufacturer, passed away in June while playing a polo match in London. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they share two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay later married Priya Sachdeva in 2017.
