After announcing the release date — April 12 — amid heightened expectations, the makers dropped a fresh track — “Ishq Mitaye”, which is both soulful and upbeat, on Thursday.
Diljit took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “Mere agge duniya ka rang saara fikka, Apne lahu se hi lagaaya maine tikka..MAIN HOON PANJAB! #IshqMitaye – OUT NOW on Saregama Music YouTube Channel #AmarSinghChamkilaOnNetflix – 12th April.”
Netflix film Amar Singh Chamlika, helmed by Imtiaz Ali, is based on Punjab’s real-life ‘rockstar’ Amar Singh Chamkila, referred to as ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab’, and wife Amarjot Kaur, played by Parineeti Chopra.
Composed by AR Rahman, “Ishq Mitaye” has been sung by Mohit Chauhan and beautifully marries traditional and contemporary beats. The song captures the essence of Amar’s life as a musician who was hailed in Punjab.
The song features Diljit and Parineeti performing while a small audience cheers them on. Amar Singh Chamkila marks a special reunion, bringing Imtiaz Ali and AR Rahman back together after nine years, with Irshad Kamil penning the lyrics.
