Amaal Mallik deletes post about riff with parents, writes another: ‘Nothing changes between me and Armaan’
Amaal and Armaan are the sons of actor-composer Daboo Malik, who is the brother of noted composer Anu Malik

Musician Amaal Mallik cooked up quite a storm with his social media post about being diagnosed with clinical depression, and blaming his parents for creating a distance between him and his brother, musician Armaan Malik. He also said in the post that for the time being, he is breaking off his ties with his parents. However, he has since deleted the post, after it created quite the furore. Nevertheless, he followed it up with another post addressing his previous post, and reiterated his love and respect for his brother.
Amaal wrote, “Thank you for the love and support. It truly means a lot, but I would request the media portals to not harass my family. Please don’t sensationalise and give negative headlines to my vulnerability. It’s a request.” In an earlier post, he wrote that the musical journey of the brothers ensured the narrative of them being ‘XYZ’s nephew or son’ has changed. “The journey has been terrific for the both of us but the actions of my parents have been the reason we as brothers have gone too far from one another and all of this has made me step in for myself as it has left a very deep scar left across my heart.”
Amaal and Armaan are the sons of actor-composer Daboo Malik, who is the brother of noted composer Anu Malik. In the new post, Amaal expressed his reservations about the hate that is being targetted towards his family. He said, “It’s taken a lot for me to open up and it is a very tough time for me. I will always love my family but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers. Armaan and I are one and nothing can between us. Love and Peace.”
In fact, right after the first, and now-deleted post, got viral, Amaal’s mother Jyoti Malik, spoke to Hindustan Times, and said, “I don’t think you need to be involved in all this. Whatever he has put is his choice. I am sorry. Thank you.” In the earlier statement, Amaal said that his parents were robbing his peace, and he was going to maintain a ‘strictly professional’ relationship with them. “I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally and maybe financially too but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings. Yes I have only myself to blame for my actions but my self worth has been diminished countless times by actions of near and dear ones that stole pieces of my soul.”
Composer Amaal is known for his work in films like Kabir Singh, Jai Ho, Roy, Airlift, Kapoor and Sons, and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. He was recently part of the Kartik Aaryan blockbuster, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
