Alia Bhatt recalls wedding with Ranbir Kapoor as she gets ready for the Met Gala: ‘Longest I’ve been away from Raha’

Alia Bhatt made her Met Gala debut at the 2023 edition of the event and in a recent video shared by Vogue, her fans got to witness the behind-the-scenes moments from her time in New York. With designer Prabal Gurung and stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, the video has Alia trying on her dress for the first time as Prabal calls it her “beautiful pure start in the international world.” Alia will be making her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone later this year.

As she got ready for the event, Alia spoke about having a chat with Priyanka Chopra, who was a fellow attendee. The Gangubai Kathiawadi actor said that Priyanka assured her that she would be there for Alia once she’s inside the museum. “Priyanka and I were talking about it yesterday and she’s like ‘you get in, and you find us’. I’m like ‘definitely because you are going to take me to the bathroom because I’m not gonna be able to go by myself’,” she said with a laugh. Alia and Priyanka are set to star in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa next.

Alia mentioned that she was “very honoured” to be a part of the gala and said that she was calm while getting ready but would certainly feel some jitters as she stepped on to the red carpet. She recalled her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor and said, “Even when I was getting married, I think I was like this (gestures calm faced) up until the last minute and there was this last moment where suddenly I was like (gestures trembling).”

Alia noted that this was the longest that she had stayed away from her daughter Raha, who was born in November 2022. “This is the longest I’ve been away from my daughter Raha. She’s almost six months now and I’ve only been away from her for 24 hours before this, and now, it’s almost going to be like 4 days. I get a couple of seconds of video call with her as soon as I wake up,” she said.

Alia was dressed in white at the Met Gala with a dress that was embroidered in India and had 100,000 pearls on it.
