Alia Bhatt is gearing up to share screen space with her husband and actor Ranbir Kapoor for the second time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated Love and War. The actor recently opened up about balancing her personal and professional life, especially as a mother to their daughter, Raha. Speaking about working with Ranbir and juggling their schedules around parenting, Alia reflected on the unique challenges and joys of their current phase of life.

“It sounds cheesy, but there are no cons to this, only pros. The only challenge is maybe Raha’s schedule and time management. We’ve made most of the film at night, so mostly we’d be with her in the day. There are days he’s shooting, days I am, we’re not always shooting at the same time,” she shared with Grazia India. In the same conversation, Alia emphasised that maintaining a healthy work-life balance while being present for her daughter remains a non-negotiable priority.

“It’s about not taking on more than you should and working with people who understand your priorities and the need for balance. It’s become second nature, finding this balance. Every month, when I’m managing my schedule, I slot it in neatly; nothing is ambiguous. I love it, I’m on various groups and planning this and that. Yes, I’m speaking from an extreme place of privilege; I may not have the same story as the mother sitting next to me, but our intent is the same. To be working professionals and at the same time be present parents and to have a bit of both — to be there, hands-on, nurturing, growing,” she shared.

Alia also reflected on how motherhood has begun to influence her choices as an actor. While she’s known for her intense, dramatic roles, she shared a desire to explore new genres: ones her daughter might enjoy someday. “I haven’t made a film that my daughter can watch, so these are little things that come from within. The reason I’m being pulled towards a comedy is that I haven’t done one. You have to find something that’s inspiring you or pulling you towards it.” Alia and Ranbir tied the knot in 2022 and welcomed their daughter Raha later that year.

Earlier this year, in a conversation on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Alia revealed she’s been compiling a digital memory book for Raha, a heartfelt gesture she hopes will become a treasured gift in the years to come.

Alia and Ranbir have previously worked together in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. It was during the shoot of this film that the couple fell in love with each other.
