Alia Bhatt skips IIFA 2023 as maternal grandfather’s health worsens: Report

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt’s maternal grandfather Narendra Razdan is said to be in critical condition. Reports suggest that he is currently hospitalised at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Alia, who was scheduled to attend the IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi, promptly cancelled her plans and returned from the airport upon learning about her grandfather’s situation.

A source close to the family, told Times Of India, “Mr. Narendra Razdan is Soni Razdan’s father and Alia’s grandfather. He has been in the Breach Candy hospital for quite some time now. He had a lung infection which got worse. He’s 95, and as of now, he’s in the sunset hours.”

The report further stated that the family got a distress call when the doctors wanted to shift Narendra Razdan to the ICU. However, the family decided that they will not keep him in the ICU.

Alia’s grandfather attended her wedding in 2022 and was very happy for Alia and Ranbir. Alia’s step-brother Rahul Bhatt had earlier told India Today, “The highlight of the wedding was that my step-mother, Soni Razdan ma’am’s ailing father, came to the wedding in a wheelchair. He is on his deathbed. He is suffering from insomnia. He still paid a visit and it was very sweet of him because it was a very emotional thing. Alia saw her granddad and she started crying. That was a very emotional moment.”

A close source had also revealed, “Alia’s grandfather was wheelchair-bound but he was emotional and happy. He was moved by the sight of Alia and Ranbir taking their pheras.”
