Alaya F opens up about her parents’ divorce, says mom Pooja Bedi attended dad’s second wedding: ‘My mom and step-mom are friends’
Alaya F said that her parents handled their divorce with grace, and that they remain close friends.

Actor Alaya F, the daughter of popular ’90s actor Pooja Bedi and businessman Farhan Furniturewala, recently opened up about her parents’ divorce. She said that since her parents’ separation was amicable, she didn’t really understand the hullabaloo around divorce until she was much older. She also shared that her mother is actually friends with her father’s second wife, and that she, Alaya, is very close to her step-brother.
Talking to Bollywood Bubble, Alaya said that when her parents got divorced, she did not see it as a bad thing. “My parents were going their separate ways, but I would see them all the time, they were very, very friendly with each other also. Till today, they are great friends. My mom attended my father’s second marriage. I am extremely close to my step-mom. My half-brother, who I even hate calling half-brother because he is my brother, we have the same dad different moms, is like a piece of my heart, my child. So I can’t imagine a life where my parents had stayed together,” she said.
Alaya even went on to say that imagining her life without her step mother and half-brother seems “absurd” to her. “For me, it’s always been a great positive thing that my parents got divorced,” she said. Alaya also applauded her parents for handling their divorce with grace. She added that when her friend’s parents were going through a divorce, Alaya did not “think it was a big deal.”
“In my head, divorce was never really a bad thing because my parents handled their divorce so beautifully. When my other friend was gong through something similar, I didn’t think it was a big deal. I was like, ‘Yeah, it will be good for you, it will be great for your family’, because that’s generally how I thought about divorce,” she said. Alaya mentioned that her parents never spoke ill about each other and were never cold to the new people who entered their lives. “My mom and step-mom are also very good friends,” she said.
Pooja and Farhan got married in 1994 and divorced in 2003. Pooja has been engaged to Maneck Contractor since 2019.
