Akshay Kumar asks if ‘anyone has dared to make a film about masturbation and sex education’; reveals OMG 2 is based on a real-life incident
In a recent interview, Akshay Kumar wondered if anyone has made a film on sex education and masturbation. He added that OMG 2 was based on a real-life incident.

Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 has started streaming on Netflix. In a recent interview, the actor said that the film is actually made for children but they can’t see it because it got an ‘adults only’ certificate from the censor board. Akshay also shared that the movie was based on a real life incident where a child was expelled from school.
Akshay said that when he makes a film with a social subject, he is not doing it with a monetary goal. “It is my way of giving back to my society. I know if I do one Singh is Kinng, or Sooryavanshi, or Rowdy Rathore, I will make 3-4 times more,” he told ANI and added that he can make light-hearted films easily, which promise him higher returns but chooses to produce movies like Padman, Toile Ek Prem Katha and Airlift, which have a sound social message. “It’s not about money. I know the business isn’t even that much but it’s not about the business,” he said.
The actor then asked, “Has anyone dared to make a film about masturbation and sex education? You tell me if anyone has made any film on this, either here or in Hollywood.” OMG 2 was a father-son story aimed at teenagers and spoke about subjects like masturbation and sex education.
“I made that film (OMG 2) for children. It is a film to be shown to children. Unfortunately, it cannot be shown because it was given an adult film certificate and there is nothing adult in it,” Akshay said. The film’s Netflix version is the same version that was screened in theatres. He said that he had the option to show the uncensored version on OTT but he chose to respect the censor board’s certificate.
“It has the same cuts that were in the theatre. I could have done that (shown the uncensored version) but I wanted to respect the censor board and I delivered what the censor board passed,” he said.
Towards, the end of the conversation, Akshay Kumar revealed that OMG 2’s story actually happened in real life where a student was “caught” and expelled from his school. He said, “The incident shown in OMG 2 actually happened. The child was caught in school and was removed.”
