Singer B Praak, who has often collaborated with actor Akshay Kumar, said that he thinks of him as a brother, and revealed the one piece of advice that Akshay gave him that he still holds dear. In an interview, B Praak admitted that he’s ‘Akshay Kumar ki awaaz (Akshay’s voice)’ on the big screen, and expressed gratitude to the actor for giving him a shot with the song “Teri Mitti” from the film Kesari.

He was asked about his bond with Akshay in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, and the singer said, “When he first heard ‘Filhall’ he just said that it’s good. Me and my team thought that he didn’t like it. But some time later, he said that he’d love to star in the music video, and we couldn’t believe it. He’s such a huge star… He’s given me so many opportunities.”

Recalling his first interaction with the actor, Praak said, “I would shoot ‘Teri Mitti’ at Yash Raj, and that’s where I met him. It was such a huge moment in my life, because I’d grown up watching him. It was a huge deal, because only I know what I’ve done to get here. He didn’t say anything, he just came and put his hand on my shoulder. He just said one thing, that I’ve sung the best song of his career.”

The singer also recalled the one piece of advice that Akshay gave him, that he still holds on to. “He said, ‘Paisa kamao bas (Just make money)’. Woh bhi yehi kar rahe hain (That’s what he’s doing as well).” Praak said that he’d be lying if he said that he doesn’t enjoy making money.

Previously, in an appearance on Koffee with Karan, actor Ranveer Singh had also recalled a similar story about Akshay. As they were discussing the subject of movie stars performing at private functions and weddings, Ranveer said, “Who taught me this? Sir,” pointing at Akshay. “Band Baaja has come out, this is my first year. He was headlining a wedding, me and Anushka were the opening act. The wedding was over, and this was wedding season, so every weekend there was a wedding. And sir was headlining a wedding the following weekend as well. He says, ‘Beta, agle hafte aa raha hai?’ I said, ‘Nahi sir, mera kuch yeh woh hai’. He said, ‘Yeh dekh, I don’t like to see money getting wasted. Shaadi hai, main naach raha hoon; birthday hai, main naach raha hoon; mundan hai, bachcha ro raha hai, main naach raha hoon’ (Are you coming next week? I said no, I don’t have anything. he said he doesn’t like money going waste. He said he dances at weddings, birthdays, mundans…. everywhere).”
