Ajit warned son Shehzad Khan against mimicking his voice in films after Andaz Apna Apna: ‘Don’t you dare do this again’
Shehzad Khan mimicked his father Ajit's iconic voice for his character Vinod Bhalla in the Aamir Khan and Salman Khan's Andaz Apna Apna.

Veteran actor Shehzad Khan recently recalled mimicking his father Ajit’s iconic voice for his character Vinod Bhalla in the Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s Andaz Apna Apna. Shehzad also shared his father’s reaction to his role.
In an appearance on Radio Nasha, Shehzad spoke about his experience working on Andaz Apna Apna and the consequences of adopting his father’s iconic cadence for his role. He said, “The entire casting of the film was done by Rajkumar Santoshi. Only for this character, Vinay Kumar (producer of the film) said that ‘this role will be done by Shehzad.’ When I went there, Raj told me about the role and told me that I had to use my father’s voice for the character, and that’s how the journey started.”
Shehzad shared how his father was completely clueless about Andaz Apna Apna and was made aware of his son’s work by someone else. “I never told my father about the film, and some people told him, ‘Your son’s new film has come out. A lot of people are talking about it. He has used your voice.’ Then he saw the film and told me, ‘Ainda aisi himakat mat karna (Don’t ever repeat this),'” added the actor.
Shehazad Khan’s father, Hamid Ali Khan, better known as Ajit, is considered one of the most memorable villains during the golden period of Bollywood. He starred in films like Zanjeer (1973), Kalicharan (1976), Naya Daur (1957) and Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973). He gained popularity for his unique cadence and dialogue delivery, which his son ultimately ended up cashing on.
Besides Shehzad Khan, Andaz Apna Apna, which has gained a cult following over the years, starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor and Viju Khote, among others. The film is set to release in select theatres on April 25.
