Action Vs Satire today: Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Bangistan’ takes on Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation’
Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation has already created waves. Giving it a tough competition is the Bollywood release 'Bangistan'.

Today is a celebratory day for all Tom Cruise fans across India, as the fifth installment of the Mission Impossible series – ‘Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation’ – is all set to hit the theatres.
The movie has already created waves in the international arena and with the number of Cruise fans in India it is expected to do good at the Indian Box Office too.
‘Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation’ clearly runs on Cruise’s laurels as at the age of 53, the Hollywood superstar does stunts, which others will think twice before doing.
The franchise surely has Tom Cruise’s magic at the helm. According to the initial reviews of the movie, it’s surely looking set to woo the audiences, just like it did with its previous editions.
This edition also has an Indian connection as a group of visual effects professionals from India is reported to be responsible for the visual effects seen.
Giving this Hollywood marvel a tough competition is the Bollywood release ‘Bangistan’ starring Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat.
The movie is about two suicide bombers, Hafeez Bin Ali Ishwarchand Sharma (Riteish) and Allah Rakha Khan Praveen Chaturvedi (Pulkit), who have been brainwashed into an explosive mission but eventually realise that death wish is a futile exercise. ‘Bangistan’ also stars Jacqueline Fernandez.
The movie has already courted controversy due to its content and is reported to have been banned in countries like UAE, Pakistan etc.
But the presence of Riteish, who started the year on a high note with appreciation from all corners for ‘Ek Villain’ and his own Marathi production ‘Lai Bhaari’, makes the movie a must watch. Trade Pundits also suggest a decent occupancy and the satirical content ensures that word-of-mouth can be a gam changer for the movie.
All in all, it’s a mixed surprise this weekend with a high-octane thriller and a satirical comedy hitting the theatres. Forgetting the Hollywood-Bollywood bars, the weekend seems good.
