Now, in a podcast with ANI, Abhijeet has taken another sly dig at the actor for not giving him due credit for his work. The musician, who has not collaborated with Shah Rukh since Om Shanti Om in 2007, said that he shares no personal relationship with the actor and the credit for all their songs goes to him.
When asked about his current relationship with SRK, Abhijeet expressed, “Koi relationship hi nahi hai. I have met him a few times, but just for hello or hi greetings. Haven’t sat and talked to him properly like I am doing with you right now.”
The host then compared Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Shah Rukh Khan’s songs to the iconic pairing of Kishore Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. Reacting to the same, the singer sarcastically said, “Mine and Shah Rukh’s case is different. After listening to our voices, it feels like we are twins. I realise it now that all these songs aren’t mine, Shah Rukh has sung them, written them, music has been done by him, the film is his, and even the cinematographer is Shah Rukh. Everything is Shah Rukh. Toh main kya karoon? Log mujhe bolte hain, ‘Aapka vo Shah Rukh ka gaana’. Then I realised that it isn’t my song.”
Abhijeet Bhattacharya has crooned hit Shah Rukh Khan songs like “Suno Naa” (Chalte Chalte), “Chaand Taare” (Yes Boss), “Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha” (Main Hoon Na), “Woh Ladki Jo” (Badshaah), and many more. Their rift began when the singer voiced concerns about not receiving proper credit for his work with the actor, leading him to stop singing for him.
