On the complaint of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC), an FIR under Section 295-A IPC (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) was registered at E Division PS by Amritsar Police.

“We have demanded strict action against these filmmakers for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community across the globe by showing non-Sikh, clean-shaven actor Meezaan Jafri wearing a ‘kirpan’ – Sikh Kakaar (symbol of Sikh faith) – in a way Amritdhari Sikhs do. Disrespect to Sikh Maryada (conduct), tradition, and lifestyle cannot be tolerated at any cost. To gain publicity and for their financial benefit, the filmmakers presented Sikh Kakaar Kirpan in a wrong way without caring about religious sentiments. The SGPC demands to investigate the case thoroughly and take action at the earliest. Moreover, as the concerned video song might have been downloaded by a large number of people, we request Government agencies and ministries to ensure that it is removed from all platforms on cyberspace,” said the SGPC spokesperson.

Earlier, a FIR under similar charges was registered on the complaint of the Sikh Talmel Committee, a body of Sikh organisations.
