School Winter Holidays 2025: The Jharkhand government on Saturday announced that schools will remain closed for students from kindergarten to class 8 from January 7 to 13 due to the cold wave in the state.
The School Education and Literacy Department, in a notification issued on Saturday evening, announced that the suspension of classes for students till grade 8 will be for all categories of schools, including government, aided, minority and private, in view of prevailing cold wave conditions in the state.
The department, in the notification, further said that classes for students of classes 9 to 12 would be held as usual.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Administration announced changes in school timings for government, government-aided and recognised private schools in the Union Territory.
As per the order issued, classes in physical mode were suspended for classes up to eighth standard, however, online classes would be held from 9 am onwards.
For students in Classes 9 to 12, physical classes will start only after 9:30 am and conclude by 3:30 pm Timings for staff can be adjusted accordingly.
Further, the order issued mentioned that schools conducting pre-board classes were permitted to open by 9 am and the timings for the staff could be regulated accordingly.
Schools in Bihar’s Patna district are closed up to Class 8 due to prevailing cold-wave conditions in the state. The schools will be closed till January 11. All outdoor activities in the schools are also prohibited before 9 am and after 4 pm at all private and government schools.
Chandra Shekhar Singh, Patna’s district magistrate (DM) in an order notified that classes from 9 onwards continue to work between 9 am and 3: 30 pm.
