WBJEE topper Souradeep Das not to take engineering in state colleges

Souradeep Das from Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur topped the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE 2020) , results of which were released today. However, he does not wish to pursue an engineering degree from West Bengal. “I am surprised. I did not expect to do so well in the state entrance exam,” he said adding that he does not wish to study in any West Bengal-based college and would consider taking admission in IIT-Bombay or IISc Bangalore instead.

Paper pattern of WBJEE 2020

The students rated the paper as moderate, with the question pattern following the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main).Reiterating the same, teachers too said the state Joint Entrance (WBJEE) paper was at par with JEE Main. “This is the first time that the state joint entrance examination followed the pattern of JEE Main. In Physics, questions covered the entire syllabus. While in JEE Main, it covers 70 per cent of the syllabus, WBJEE covered the whole syllabus,” said Sandip Sanyal, Associate Professor, Physics, FIITJEE.

How many candidates appeared for the exam

This was the first time ever, the state JEE was conducted much before the Higher Secondary, Uccha Madhyamik exam on February 2. As per the board, around 1.1 lakh candidates had applied to appear for the engineering entrance examination

The result for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2020 will be released today. All the candidates who had appeared for the WBJEE can check their result by visiting the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in after 1 pm. The state JEE result was usually released in June, but this year, it was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

WBJEE 2020 Result HIGHLIGHTS: To check result, the students need to click on the result link- wbjeeb.nic.in. Enter roll number, registration number. Results will appear on the screen. The students who will clear the examinations will get an admission to Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy degree courses in universities, colleges in the state.
