The past week saw another plea being filed over exam and its cut-off, this time against the entrance tests for postgraduate medicine, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG). The Delhi High Court has now issued a notice to the centre on the plea challenging the NEET PG cut-off being reduced to 0.
The last date for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) application was extended till October 5. The Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2024 was also announced on Wednesday, September 27.

NEET PG Plea at Delhi HC
After hearing the arguments by the petitioner, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav who has been hearing the case against reducing the NEET PG 2023 cut-off to 0 percentile across all categories, has sought a response from the National Board of Examinations (NBE), Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
New Online Programmes at IITs
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has introduced six new online postgraduate programmes under its departments of economics and management sciences. Unlike other PG programmes at the IITs, admission to these would not require GATE scores. Candidates can apply at emasters.iitk.ac.in until October 31 for the classes set to begin in January 2024.
THE World University Rankings 2024
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 was released on Wednesday, September 27. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore moved to 201-250 band this year to be the only Indian institute to feature in top 250 universities in THE rankings 2024.
Karnataka forms textbook review committee
The Karnataka government has formed a new textbook revision committee to revise the state curriculum of first and second language Kannada textbooks from Classes 1 to 10, third language Kannada textbooks for Classes 9 and 10 and social science textbooks from Classes 6 to 10.
IIM Bangalore Admission Policy
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) has revised its admission policy for its MBA programme. As per the new admission policy, more weightage will be given to personal interview (PI) round now as the weightage has increased from 35 to 40 per cent this year. IIM Bangalore admits candidates to its MBA programmes on the basis of CAT.
University of Toronto’s Support Desk for Indian students
Amid the ongoing diplomatic tussle between India and Canada, the University of Toronto has set up support desks to assist the Indian students there.
