North 24 Parganas district produced the highest number of successful candidates (10,489), followed by East Midnapore (7,331) and West Midnapore (7,079).

Of the top 10 candidates, four each are from the state board and the CBSE, while the others are from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. Read more 

Speaking to reporters, the WBJEE topper said he had not expected such a good result. “I am very happy with the result. Next I want to get into IIT-Kharagpur to study computer science,”Kingshuk Patra said.

Board chairman Malayendu Saha announced that Kingshuk Patra from Bankura Zilla School has topped the exam. The provisional WBJEE 2024 answer key was released on May 7. The answer key challenge window was open till May 9. The board will also release the final answer key along with the result.

Students who appeared for the exam will be required to key in their registration number/ roll number and password to check the scorecard. WBJEE choice-filling and choice-locking process will soon begin on the official website.

There is no offficial confirmation from the Board side as to when the results will be declared at the official website. 

A total of 96,913 candidates — that is 99.4 per cent — were declared successful, the Board said.

Once out, the WBJEE 2024 counselling process will start which will include online registration, fee payment, choice filling, and then seat allotment. Candidates need to register online separately for the counselling process, once dates and instructions are released. The seat allotment process will be done based on rank and marks secured by the candidates.

The Board announced that the results will be declared at 2:30 pm but it seems results are delayed.

In 2021, the result was declared on August 6, for the exams which were conducted on July 17, and before that, in 2020, the result was declared on August 7, for the exams conducted on February 2. In 2019, the result was declared on June 20, for the exams conducted on May 26.

WBJEE Board chairman Malayendu Saha announced that Md Sahil Akhtar and Soham Das of Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, bagged the first and the second rank, respectively while Sara Mukherjee of Bankura Banga Vidyalaya secured the third rank.

“A total of 1,24,919 candidates enrolled for the examination out of which 97,524 appeared in it and 96,913 qualified. The success rate was 99.4 per cent. Of the students who qualified, 69,560 are from West Bengal,” said Saha.

In 2023, the result was declared on May 26, for the exams which were conducted on April 30, and before that, in 2022, the result was declared on June 17, for the exams conducted on April 30.

With the declaration of WBJEE Result 2024, the conducting board will release the cutoff 2024 list category-wise, course-wise, and college-wise. The cutoff list is prepared on the basis of the number of students who appeared, seat availability and difficulty level of the exam.

Up to 10 per cent of the approved seats in all Self-Financed Engineering and Technology Colleges of West Bengal are available for students who crack in JEE (Main) 2024.

Once results are out, then the Board will announce the counselling schedule, for which students have to re-register themselves on the official portal

In 2022, the pass percentage for WBJEE was 98.5 per cent, and students from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) dominated the top ten merit list of WBJEE with the first two ranks going to students from the central board.

The Metro Railway Kolkata ran special services for the WBJEE course aspirants in the Blue line (Dakshineswar to New Garia) from 8:30 am till 9:40 pm, a Metro railway statement said.

Candidates, who have passed their HS or Class 12 exams before 2024 or are appearing for the same can apply. There are different criteria as per the course one is applying to appear for. For the same one has to check the official website.

While there is no upper age limit, the lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2024. However, for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering course the upper age limit is 25 years.
