The University of Wollongong India (UOW India) at GIFT City, one of the first international branch campuses in India, will commence classes with two programmes — Master of Computing (Data Analytics) and Graduate Certificate in Computing — from July 29.

The orientation with an intake of 25 students in each programme is scheduled from July 29 till August 2. The lectures will commence from August 5.

On Wednesday, the university also opened applications for its three FinTech programmes — Master of Financial Technology, Master of Financial Technology (Extension), and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology. The classes for these courses will begin in November this year. With an initial intake of 20-25 students, these programmes will gradually increase the seats in the following years.

UOW India Campus Director Nimay Kalyani told The Indian Express that the opening of the FinTech programmes will provide students with career options in the areas of blockchain technology, digital payments, data analytics, financial advisory and machine learning.

We are excited to open FinTech applications to students as we get closer to the opening of our campus in GIFT City, India’s leading global financial and technology hub, Kalyani said.

“When the GIFT City campus opens later this month, UOW India will be the 3rd highest ranked university in India and will be in the top 1 per cent universities in the world, ranking equal 167th in the latest QS World Rankings,” Kalyani told this paper.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in work-integrated learning programmes, that will include both internships and non-internship opportunities, such as faculty integrating industry-identified challenges into classroom experiences. Students will gain hands-on experience, applying classroom knowledge to practical, real-life business scenarios.
