PM Modi says NEP 2020 designed for ‘modern’, ‘developed’ India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the National Education Policy has been drafted keeping in mind the requirements of modern and developed India.

The National Education Policy 2020 was introduced by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020. NEP 2020, which replaced the previous National Policy on Education, 1986, outlines the vision of new education system of India.

“The Central government has implemented the new National Education Policy (NEP) keeping in view the requirements of modern and developed India,” he said in a video message. His video message was an address for the newly-inducted teachers in Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi also revealed that more than 22,400 youths have been recruited for the post of teacher. He also congratulated the teachers who have been recently appointed as teachers in the state. Half of these teachers appointed will be deputed in tribal areas which will benefit the children of those areas, PM Modi said.

The state is aiming for more than one lakh appointments in government posts this year, including 60,000 teachers.

Modi also mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, congratulating authorities for establishing skill development centres acorss the country. “In this year’s budget, 30 Skill India International Centers will be opened where youth will be trained through New Age Technology, and an initiative has been taken to provide training to small artisans through PM Vishwakarma Yojana and also to connect them with MSME,” PM said.
