(Images: Express Archives)Padma Awards 2025: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday announced the names of the awardees who will receive the highest civilian awards—Padma Awards—for the year 2025. This year, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards.
Among the awardees, 23 are women, and the list includes 10 individuals categorised as foreigners, NRIs, PIOs, or OCIs, as well as 13 posthumous awardees. Now, let’s see who all have been awarded under the literature and education category for this year.
Thirty awardees will be given Padma Awards under the Literature and Education category in ceremonial functions which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April.
This year, 7 people will get the highest award which is given for exceptional and distinguished service to the country. Under the Education category, MT Vasudevan Nair from Kerala will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan Posthumously. He was affectionately called by his admirers, as MT, and died on December 25, 2024.
Other people who will receive the award are, Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Justice (Retd.) Shri Jagdish Singh Khehar, Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia, LakshminarayanaSubramaniam, Osamu Suzuki and Sharda Sinha.
The Padma Bhushan is given to people for distinguished service of high order. This year under the Literature and Education category, Bibek Debroy, A Surya Prakash, and Rambahadur Rai will receive the awards.
Other awardees are Vinod Dham, Shekhar Kapur, Shobana Chandrakumar, Pankaj Patel, Pankaj Udhas, P R Sreejesh, and Nandamuri Balakrishna among others.
This year Padma Shri will be given to those people who have worked in a distinguished any field. Under the Literature and Education category, Anil Kumar Boro, Arunoday Saha, Arvind Sharma, Chandrakant Sheth, David R Syiemlieh, Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, Gita Upadhyay, Hriday Narayan Dixit, Hugh and Colleen Gantzer, Jagadish Joshila, K L Krishna, Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer, Lalit Kumar Mangotra, Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli, Nagendra Nath Roy, Nitin Nohria, Pratibha Satpathy, Ramdarash Mishra, Renthlei Lalrawna, Sant Ram Deswal, Seeni Viswanathan, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Stephen Knapp, Syed Ainul Hasan, Tushar Durgeshbhai Shukla, and Vadiraj Raghawendracharya Panchamukhi.
