NEET UG Admit Card 2024 (Out) Updates: Exam today, NTA guidelines you need to know

Candidates need to bring a hard copy of the admit card. The details and picture should not be blurred. 

No bio-breaks will be allowed to the NEET UG 2024 aspirants taking the exam today in the first hour and last half an hour of the exam. Also, the biometrics of candidates will be matched after every bio-break, NTA said.

Students taking the NEET UG 2024 today must read the admit card carefully and take the things including postcard size photograph and other documents as mentioned on the hall ticket to the exam center.

NEET UG 2024 candidates are instructed to follow the following dress code while appearing for the medical entrance test

– Heavy clothes and long sleeves are not permitted

– Shoes are not permitted. Slippers and sandals with low heels are permitted

The candidates wearing articles or objects of faith – customary, cultural or religious should report at the examination centre by 12:30 pm so that there is enough time for proper frisking without any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the examination, said National Testing Agency.

The reporting time at the NEET 2024 exam center is 11:30 am and the last entry into the exam hall would be 1:30 pm. Post this, the candidates will not be allowed entry inside the exam center.

Candidates appearing for the exam should follow the NEET UG 2024 dress code as provided by NTA. Aspirants should be dressed casually and avoid clothes with long sleeves. Shoes are also prohibited. Henceforth, the candidates are advised to wear slippers or sandals. Aspirants wearing a customary dress are required to report to the examination center by 12:30 pm. 

Question: Do I download all the pages in the NEET UG admit card?

Answer: The NEET UG 2024 admit card consists of three pages:

- Page 1 contains the centre details and self declaration (undertaking) form

- Page 2 has a “postcard size photograph”

- Page 3 has instructions for candidates

The candidate must download all the three pages and paste a postcard-sized photograph on page 2 before arriving at the center.

The downloaded NEET UG admit card should prominently display the candidate’s photograph, signature, and the roll number barcode. These details are crucial for identification and verification purposes during the examination, NTA said while releasing guidelines for the exam day.

a. NTA uses AI based real time analytical tools and technologies to map likely/potential use of unfair means /cheating behavior by candidates at all centres, both during and post exams.
b. CCTV recordings are analyzed using AI technologies to confirm malpractice with evidence.
c. NTA catches the likely cheaters through Artificial Intelligence-based tools.
d. Suspicious candidates are identified through AI-based tools, even after the examination.
e. Examination centers are continuously monitored through artificial intelligence-enabled systems to ensure the integrity of the examination process. 

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on January 6 said that the number of MBBS seats in the country has increased to 1,08,940. While it was only 51,348 in 2014, the minister claimed as many as 57,592 new MBBS seats have been introduced in the past 10 years between 2014 and 2024. 

The candidates are instructed to follow the following dress code while appearing for NEET UG 2024

No bio-breaks will be allowed to the aspirants taking the exam on May 5 in the first one hour and last half an hour of the exam. Also biometrics of candidates will be matched after every bio-break, NTA said.

The NTA has urged all candidates to refrain from engaging in any form of unfair means or practices. The agency has also adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards malpractices and has introduced a series of robust measures to prevent any attempts to compromise the examination, NTA said in a statement issued late last night.

NTA has implemented various measures such as multistage biometric authentication for both candidates and invigilation staff, surprise visits by flying squads, utilization of AI tools to identify discrepancies in candidates' application details, thorough invigilation supervision, among others. 

Shashank Kumar, who is now in AIIMS New Delhi doing his MBBS says that there were a few things and some quotes that used to run in his mind during the last phase of preparation.

"At the end of the day, when all is said and done, there is only one thing over which you have complete control – your mind."

He further said: "Your state of mind matters in the last days before the exam. And to think the most positive thoughts is the best way to boost the performance. People and environment around may create an air of tension as the exam approaches, but remember no exam can be so big that it can overwhelm you, it is just another exam that you will face, nothing more. No matter what an exam or result has in store for you, you are the best."

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET UG)  is an exam for students seeking admission to medical programs like MBBS, BDS, AYUSH courses (BAMS, BUMS, BYNS, BHMS, BSMS), veterinary science (BVSc & AH) programs and nursing courses. Passing NEET UG grants eligibility for medical education in approved Indian institutions.

Apart from taking the NEET UG hall ticket to the exam centre, NTA has released a set of guidelines to be followed on the exam day. Here is the list of things allowed and not allowed to be brought inside the exam hall. Moreover, the NEET UG aspirants have to follow a proper dress code.

If candidates are wearing a customary dress in NEET UG exam on Sunday, they need to report at the allotted examination centre latest by 12:30 pm on the day of the examination.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 and 12 results will likely be announced after May 20, as per a message posted on the official website — cbseresults.nic.in. However, there is no official confirmation of the CBSE result declaration date and time on the official cbse.gov.in.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised the candidates to make sure that the downloaded NEET UG admit card displays the correct photo and signature. If not, the testing agency has asked the candidates to redownload it again, NTA added.

One postcard size (4”X6”) color photograph with a white background should be pasted on the proforma downloaded with the NEET UG admit card and should be handed over to the invigilator at the centre. Candidates who does not bring the downloaded proforma with a postcard size (4”X6”) photograph pasted and one passport size photograph will not be allowed to sit in the examination.

– Heavy clothes and long sleeves are not permitted

- Admit Card along with passport size photograph affixed on it

- One passport-size photograph is to be affixed on Attendance Sheet.

- Valid Original Identity proof, PwBD certificate, if applicable.

- One Post Card Size (4”X6”) color photograph with white background should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card and should be handed over to invigilator at centre.

Candidates are not allowed to carry these items to the NEET exam hall:
– Instruments
– Geometry or pencil box
– Handbag or purse
– Any kind of paper, stationery or textual material either printed or written 
– Eatables either loose or packed
– Water 
– Mobile phone, earphone, microphone, pager, calculator, docu pen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets or devices 

Students taking the NEET UG 2024 exam on May 5 must read the admit card carefully and take the things including postcard size photograph and other documents as mentioned on the hall ticket to the exam centre.

The paper will have four sections-- Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany. Each section will be further divided into two parts-- A and B. Part A will have 35 questions, all of which need to be answered. Part B will have 15 questions out of which 10 need to be answered. Section A will be for 140 marks, section B will be for 40 marks. The maximum marks for the paper is 720.

The tie-breaking method to be used by NTA is as follows:

– Candidates who score higher marks or percentage in Biology (Botany/Zoology).

– Candidates who score higher marks in Chemistry.

– Candidates who score higher marks in Physics.

– Candidates who have few incorrect answers than correct answers in all the subjects.

– Candidates who have the lowest proportion of incorrect responses to correct responses in Biology (Botany and Zoology).

– Candidates who have the lowest ratio of incorrect answers, in Chemistry, to correct answers.

– Candidates who have a lesser percentage of attempted incorrect answers in Physics.

– Candidate older in age.

– NEET application number in ascending number.

The exam will be held in pen and paper mode. All questions will be MCQ type. Students have to answer the questions on an OMR sheet using a ball point pen provided at the centre. If any candidate is found tampering with the OMR sheet, they will be debarred of the candidature for three years.

As per the NTA the following seats are available students who qualify NEET UG 2024 under different quota:-

-- All India Quota Seats

-- State Government Quota Seats

-- Central Institutions/ universities/ deemed universities

-- State/Management/ NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private University

-- Central Pool Quota Seats

-- All seats including NRI Quota as well as Management Quota, are in private unaided/ aided minority/ non-minority medical colleges.
 
-- AIIMS Institutes across India/JIPMER.

-- The counselling for successful candidates for seats under 15 per cent All India Quota and 100 per cent including 85 per cent state quota seats of Central Institutions (ABVIMS and RML Hospital/VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital/ESIC)/ Central Universities (including DU/BHU /AMU)/ AIIMS/ JIPMER and Deemed Universities, will be conducted by the MCC/ DGHS for Undergraduate Medical / Dental Courses. MCC only does the registration for AFMC and forwards the data of registered Candidates to AFMC authorities for the admission process. DU/BHU and other universities may use the score for any other relevant courses being offered by them

The paper is conducted in 13 languages-- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

The duration of NEET UG 2024 will be 3 hours and 20 minutes. And, PwD candidates (having a physical limitation to write) will get compensatory time of one hour and five minutes whether the candidate uses a scribe or not.

The National Eligiblity and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 will be for 720 marks. All four subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology will be divided into two sections-- A and B. Section A will 35 questions for 140 marks, section B will have 15 questions out of which 10 have to be answered. Each correct answer with fetch four marks, for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted and for every unanswered question candidate will get 0 mark. All questions will be MCQ type.

Medical aspirants who score over or equal to the specified cut-off in the NEET UG 2024 exam can appear for the NEET UG 2024 counselling.  For the state specific counselling, candidates have to meet state-specific domicile requirements. This year, general category candidates must score in the 50th percentile, while SC/ST/OBC candidates must score in the 40th percentile.

In 2022, Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of NEET UG registrations (2.5 lakh), out of which 2.4 lakh candidates appeared for the exam and 1.13 lakh qualified, as per a data shared by the NTA.

1- Any item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc.

2- Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band, etc

3- Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap, etc.

4- Any Watch/Wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, etc.

5- Any ornaments/metallic items.

6- Any food items opened or packed, water bottle, etc.

7- Any other item which could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.

As per the revised guidelines, Indian nationals, NRIs, overseas citizen of India (OCI), persons with Indian origin (PIO) and foreign nationals are eligible for admission in medical, dental, ayurveda, siddha, unani and homeopathy colleges. Earlier, these candidates were treated as foreigners and were only eligible for NRI seats, and not for Indian national Seats including paid seats of deemed universities.

Last year, NTA clarified that the candidates opting for English would be provided their test booklet in English only, and those who have opted for Hindi will be provided with a bilingual test booklet in English and Hindi. Similarly, candidates opting for regional languages would also be provided with a bilingual test booklet in selected regional languages and English.

– Candidates who have the lowest ratio of incorrect answers, in Chemistry, to correct answers.

– Candidates who have a lesser percentage of attempted incorrect answers in Physics.

– Candidate older in age.

– NEET application number in ascending number.

The above mentioned tie-breaker criteria is in the order of most important to less important.

In case the same marks are scored by two or more candidates in NEET UG 2024, the following tie-breaking criteria will be applied

– Candidates who score higher marks or percentage in Biology (Botany/Zoology).

– Candidates who score higher marks in chemistry.

– Candidates who score higher marks in physics.

– Candidates who have few incorrect answers than correct answers in all the subjects.

– Candidates who have the lowest proportion of incorrect responses to correct responses in Biology (Botany and Zoology).

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bharati Pravin Pawar had clarified last year in the Lok Sabha that there is no proposal to conduct NEET UG twice in a year. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) is currently conducted once in a year as an eligibility/ entrance test for medical courses in India by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

A signal will be given at the beginning of the examination and at half-time. A signal will also be given before the closing time when the candidate must stop marking the responses.

- One post card size (4”X6”) color photograph with white background should be pasted on the proforma downloaded with the admit card. The proforma with post card size photograph shall be handed over to the invigilator in the examination hall.

- Any one of the authorised photo IDs (must be original and valid and like PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar Card /Ration Card/ Class 12 admit card with photograph /any other valid photo ID issued by the government.

- PwBD certificate issued by the competent authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwBD category

Students can carry these things inside the NEET UG 2024 exam hall:

- A printed copy of admit card downloaded from NTA website with passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the application form pasted on it).

- One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the online application form) for pasting on the specific space in the attendance sheet at centre.
