NEET UG 2025 Registrations Updates: NTA to start application process soon

The National Board of Examination Medical Science (NBEMS) will today start the registration process for National Eligibility Entrance Test – Super Specialty (NEET SS) 2024. The application link will be activated at 3 pm on the official website– natboard.edu.in. The application will be closed on February 24 with correction window open between February 27 and March 3.

--NEET is the type of competitive exam that checks your in-depth understanding and not just memorising ability. Questions in NEET will be mostly based on how different concepts are combined in order to get an appropriate solution or require application-based thinking.

-- The memorising of facts is a stressful method since you may forget those facts while under pressure. But when you really understand the concept you can deduce answers.

-- NEET UG is only the starting point towards becoming a doctor. If you just rely on memorisation now, then you would face difficulty in a medical school since you have to rely more on conceptual understanding. In anatomy, physiology and pharmacology, you will have to apply what you learn with reasoning.

-- In NEET UG, many questions interlink topics from different subjects.

NEET UG 2025 paper will now have 180 compulsory questions — 45 questions each in physics and chemistry and 90 in biology. Candidates will have to attempt the paper in 180 minutes.

The optional section was introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate the challenges posed during Covid pandemic and has been in practice till 2024. But from 2025 onwards, the optional section has been discontinued.

Daily practice problems (DPP) help test the knowledge and understanding of the concept you gain. Solving problems daily makes you reinforce what you’ve theoretically gained and ensures you master the basics well. NEET UG is very tricky and application-based in questions. Hence, practicing a range of problems sharpens problem-solving skills and boosts your confidence.

Though daily practice problems don’t help much unless done with in-depth concepts. NEET is not only a memory game but tests your analytical acumen too. While one needs to practice regularly, the regular practice has to be combined with conceptual clarity.

After that, aspirants will be required to upload the asked documents and scanned images, pay the application fees and then submit the form. Candidates are advised to download and save the application form for future reference.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the syllabus for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) on its official website. The official website to check the NEET UG syllabus is neet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in.

For the 2024 exam, the NEET UG application form, information bulletin, syllabus and exam pattern were available at neet.ntaonline.in, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ and nta.ac.in.

NEET UG 2024 syllabus comprises four subjects — physics, chemistry, botany and zoology and NMC has on December 17 released the subject-wise syllabus for NEET UG 2025. The NEET UG 2025 syllabus can be downloaded from the official website of the National Medical Commission (NMC) – nmc.org.in or the NEET UG official website – neet.nta.nic.in.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduate medical courses in pen and paper mode. In a notification, the testing agency also informed that the exam will be conducted in a single day and single shift.

The notification further read that NEET UG is for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines that is BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses in all medical institutions. NEET UG shall also be applicable for admission to the BHMS course under the National Commission for Homeopathy.

Cut-off marks in NEET UG are calculated after considering several factors like difficulty level of the examination, number of candidates appearing and seats available in the medical colleges.

To be qualified for NEET UG, one has to score the minimum qualifying percentile:

– General Category: 50th percentile

– SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile

– PwD: 45th percentile

The same percentiles translate to different scores every year depending on the highest marks obtained by students.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has discontinued the optional questions in Section B of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025. Candidates taking the NEET UG in 2025 will not get any optional questions and extra time introduced during Covid and exam will now revert to the pre-covid format.

The optional section was introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate the challenges posed during Covid pandemic and has been in practice till 2024. NEET UG 2025 paper will now have 180 compulsory questions — 45 questions each in physics and chemistry and 90 in biology. Candidates will have to attempt the paper in 180 minutes.

An NTA statement issued in this regard said: “All NEET (UG)-2025 aspirants are hereby informed that the question paper pattern and examination duration will revert to the pre-COVID format where there will not be any Section B anymore. Hence, there will be a total of 180 compulsory questions (45 questions each in Physics and Chemistry and 90 in Biology) which will be attempted by the candidates in 180 minutes thereby removing any optional questions and extra time introduced due to covid.
