The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a ‘special stray vacancy round’ to fill remaining medical seats. Candidates can register for it at the official MCC website — mcc.nic.in.

This decision has been taken considering that a lot of medical seats were left vacant this year.

“All the NEET UG 2023 eligible candidates are hereby informed that to prevent wastage of precious medical seats, MoHFW approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Diary No. 45004 of 2023 in W.P (C) No. 76 of 2015 for extension of last date of admission of under graduate courses and to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round for the vacant MBBS/ B.D.S/ B.Sc Nursing Seats of AIQ and State Quota,” the official notification stated.

However, the Committee also added that this is the last round for NEET UG 2023. “It is pertinent to mention that this Special Stray Vacancy Round will be the last round for under graduate courses for this academic year i.e. 2023,” the notification clarified.

Candidates who are not holding any seat either in all India quota or state quota are eligible to participate in special stray vacancy round. However, candidates who did not join their seats allotted through MCC round-3 onwards are not eligible to participate.

The registration for this special stray vacancy round is open till November 5 (12 pm), and the payment facility will be available till 3 pm of the same day. The choice filling and choice locking facility is available till November 5, and the processing of seat allotment will take place on November 6 and 7, after which the result will also be published on November 7. Selected MBBS students will have time till November 15 to report to their allotted colleges.
