The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Preliminary Examination 2025, citing flood-like conditions across several districts and heavy rainfall warnings issued by the State Meteorological Department.

The examination, which was earlier scheduled for September 28, will now be held on November 9.

In its official notice, the Commission stated, “In reference to the advertisement published by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) regarding the Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Preliminary Examination – 2025, it was initially scheduled to be held on 28th September 2025 at 524 sub-centers across 37 districts of the state. However, due to the flood-related conditions that have arisen in several districts of the state, many villages and talukas have lost connectivity with each other. Additionally, the state’s meteorological department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in the coming days. In light of this, and to ensure that no candidate is deprived of appearing for the examination, the Government has requested to reschedule the examination.”

Following the government’s request, the Commission has rescheduled the Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2025 to November 9, 2025. The notice clarified, “Consequently, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission has decided to reschedule the examination to the revised date of 9th November 2025, instead of the previously planned date of 28th September 2025.”

The postponement has also affected the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2025, which was initially set for November 9, 2025. The Commission confirmed that this exam will be assigned a fresh date, saying, “Due to this change in the date of the examination, the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination – 2025, which was initially scheduled for 9th November 2025, will be rescheduled to a later date. The revised date will be published separately through a corrigendum.”

In addition to the MPSC exams, the state-level competitive examination 2025 for technical and non-technical posts in government medical and dental colleges, as well as affiliated hospitals, has also been postponed. These tests were originally planned for September 25 and 26, 2025.

An official statement stated, “Due to extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra, including Solapur district, resulting in an emergency flood situation, the examinations scheduled for September 25 and 26, 2025, stand postponed. The revised schedule will be declared soon.”
