(AP Photo) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, said that Tel Aviv is working on a ceasefire plan with the Washington and the details regarding it are being sorted out as reports suggested that US and Israel are are close to an agreement on Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.
After Israeli forces launched a ground offensive to capture Gaza City this month, Netanyahu came under immense international pressure to end the war in Palestine. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry data till Sunday, the death toll in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza has crossed 66,000.
A reporter from Axios, quoting a senior US official, stated that after talks between Netanyahu and US Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Israel is very close to ending the war in Gaza based on Trump’s plan. However, the official added that militant group Hamas still needs to agree.

Trump, earlier in the day, said that he hopes to finalize a Gaza peace plan proposal during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday at the White House. An AP report stated that the US president is poised to share a new proposal for ending the conflict which has been ongoing for almost two years.

During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Netanyahu said, “We’re working on it. It’s not been finalized yet, but we’re working with President Trump’s team, actually as we speak, and I hope we can – we can make it a go.”
The 21-point proposal which the Trump administration and Netanyahu’s team have been working on reportedly include releasing all hostages captured by Hamas within 48 hours, immediate ceasefire and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
Israel’s key Western allies, including France, the UK, Canada and Australia have joined a list of countries recognising a Palestinian state, while the European Union is considering sanctions against Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza.
