This year, IIT Guwahati is conducting the national-level entrance exam. Every year, certain changes are introduced to improve the registration and examination process. GATE 2026 Registration: Eligibility criteria Eligibility remains broad to ensure participation from students across academic streams. General criteria: Candidates currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program or those who have completed any government-approved degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities are eligible. Professional society exams: Candidates holding certifications from professional societies must ensure that these are recognised by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to a standard undergraduate program (BE/BTech/BArch, etc). GATE 2026 previous year questions, sample paper for XE-I released Foreign degree holders: Students who have completed or are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (minimum three years) in relevant disciplines from universities outside India are also eligible. GATE 2026 Registration at gate2026.iitg.ac.in: Examination schedule The exam will be conducted across four days, with two sessions per day. Each session will last three hours. On February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, the Forenoon session will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the Afternoon session will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
