IIT Bhilai scholarships: Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT B) gives scholarships to deserving students every year. Some are in the form of college fee concessions and some come as direct benefit transfers to the students’ bank accounts.
IIT Bhilai offers various categories of scholarships to both its undergraduate and postgraduate students.]However, they should carefully read the terms and conditions of each scholarship to ensure their eligibility before applying.
– Available only to undergraduate students in UR and OBC categories.
– Up to a maximum of 25 per cent of the students are proposed for grants or awards.
– The other economically weak students (whose family income is between Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000 per annum) who avail of 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester + pocket money of Rs 1,000 per month.
– Parental income not to exceed Rs 5,00,000 for UR Students and Rs 6,00,000 for OBC Students.
A minimum CGPA of 6.0 must be maintained to avail the benefits of the scholarship.
2. Institute SC/ST Scholarships:
– All undergraduate students in SC and ST categories are included.
– Free messing and boarding (to the extent collected) and pocket money of Rs 250 per month is given.
– Parental income not to exceed Rs 4,50,000 per annum.
– A minimum CGPA of 6.0 must be maintained to avail the benefits of the scholarship.
3. Institute Free Studentship Scholarship:
– 10 per cent of the undergraduate students are proposed for grant of Free Studentship.
– Parental income not to exceed Rs 5,00,000 per annum for UR Students and Rs 6,00,000 per annum for OBC Students.
– The other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000 per annum) who avail of 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester.
– A CGPA of 6.0 is required.
4. Institute Fellowship to Postgraduate Students:
– Non-sponsored MTech Students are paid fellowship for a maximum of 21 months by the institute provided they have valid GATE scores.
– PhD Students who are offered a fellowship by the institute are paid fellowship for 4 years and are likely to continue for another year with a positive recommendation from the department.
– The students shall not be on Institute Fellowship in a semester if they are not resident in the campus in that semester.
– All students who are offered Institute Fellowship by the institute are expected to devote 8 hours per week towards academic and administrative work (other than the research and course-work) assigned to them.

1. P.K Jain Memorial Award
This Award has been instituted with kind support from Smt. Sharda Jain from the session of 2018-19. The award consists of a Cash Award of Rs 50,000 along with a gold-plated silver Medal for a meritorious BTech student who has contributed significantly towards the advancement of the institute and has completed the 4th semester of study in BTech Programme.
2. GeetAmal Ghosh-Roy Award
This Award has been set up with a kind contribution from Dr. Rana Ghosh-Roy from the session of 2018-19. The scholarship will be awarded to one BTech 1-year student with a parental income of Rs 4,50,000 or less. The scholarship amount will be Rs 50,000 awarded in two installments.
3. R P Singh Memorial Award for Leadership and Social Work
This Award has been set up with a kind contribution from Mr. Akash Keshav Singh from the 2019-20 semester. The scholarship will be awarded to one BTech student. The award consists of a total cash award of Rs 10,000 (given in four installments) along with a certificate for a BTech student who has shown good leadership qualities along with commitment towards the welfare of society and has completed 2nd semester of study in BTech Programme with CGPA at least 6.0. The award is given every semester.
4. Gayatri Devi Leadership Award
This Award has been set up with a kind contribution from Mr. Ketan Mishra, an alumnus of the pioneering batch of IIT Bhilai. The Scholarship will be awarded to a BTech student who has cleared 6 regular semesters at IIT Bhilai with no F grade in Department Core Courses and a CGPA at least 7. The student must have shown continuous leadership throughout his stay at IIT Bhilai. They must have added value to the IIT Bhilai Community through their initiatives. A cash award of Rs 11,000 and a gold-plated silver medal along with a certificate will be awarded to the recipient of the award.
5. GSTN-CSR Scholarship for MSc students
The MSc students who are awarded this scholarship will get Rs 12,000 per year. The scholarship will be awarded in two equal installments in M and W semesters. The scholarship is awarded based on two criteria: Means and Merit. The means criteria are based on the combined parental income of the student. The merit criteria is based on the AIR rank in JAM for the first semester MSc students and is based on the last CGPA obtained by the student for all other students.
6. Alumni Association’s Young Researchers Award
This Award has been set up with a kind contribution from the Alumni Association of IIT Bhilai to motivate undergraduate students toward research. The award will be awarded to five undergraduate students who have made exemplary research contributions while being a student of IIT Bhilai. A cash award of Rs 10,000 and a certificate will be awarded to each student receiving the award.
7. K P Jain Higher Education Award
This Award has been set up with a kind contribution from Dr. Ekta Jain. The Scholarship will be awarded to a BTech student who has cleared 7 regular semesters at IIT Bhilai with no F grade. The student must be interested in higher studies after graduating from IIT Bhilai. A cash award of Rs 51,000 and a certificate will be awarded to the recipient of the award.
