Speaking to indianexpress.com, AIR 1 shared that he aspires to pursue a career in private equity or consulting — two fields he has dreamed of entering since the beginning of his journey. “My love for numbers and case studies has attracted me to pursue a career in private equity or consulting. Also, the growth prospects in such sectors are tremendous,” he said.

Rishab cleared his CA final exams in both groups – I and II — in his first attempt. He also secured AIR 8 in the CA inter exam held in 2021. He appeared for the foundation exam in 2020. The topper started his CA preparation when he was in Class 12.

The 22-year-old also appeared in the Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) final exams this year. He has been the topper (AIR 1) in CMA Foundation and CMA Inter.

Rishab devoted 12-14 hours per day to his CA final preparation during the last few months. Practicing questions through mock tests and past papers helped him achieve this feat in the CA November 2024 final exams.

“We get five to six months of study leave. So in those five months, I used to study at night and sleep in the morning. I used to wake up at around 10 am and study for 10 hours. In the last two to three months, I started studying 12 hours a day and during the last 15 days, I devoted 14 hours a day,” the Tirupati boy said.

The AIR 1 holder attended lectures from multiple faculties online. “The online classes seemed more convenient to me as I am also doing my CA training from KPMG. The flexibility and comfort that the online classes provided suited me. I had the freedom to watch recorded lessons after my office would get over, which helped me a lot.”

“Coaching provided me with a significant head start by offering a well-structured approach to learning. Unlike self-preparation, where one might struggle to identify which topics are most important or require extra focus, coaching simplifies these decisions for me. It reduced the time and effort spent on planning and strategising, allowing me to concentrate on other aspects of preparation, like memorising concepts and practicing problems,” he further said.

Rishab also said that he often struggled to meet the targets he set for himself — whether they were daily or weekly goals.

“Failing to accomplish them would leave me questioning my efforts. Was I not putting in enough hard work? I would often turn to my friends for reassurance. Fortunately, I’ve had a close-knit group of supportive friends, including some rankers, since my school days. We’re all pursuing CA together, and their encouragement helped me feel less isolated in my struggles,” he said adding that they reminded him that even they faced difficulties in finishing their syllabus.

“Together, we prepared and motivated each other. When I looked at my progress over a week or a month, I realised that, cumulatively, I had made significant strides, even if daily targets weren’t always met,” Rishab said.
