Haryana Board Cheating Case: 25 cops, 5 invigilators suspended

Haryana Board Cheating Case News: Taking note of the alleged paper leak in the Class 10 and 12 board exams, the Haryana government said Saturday it had suspended 25 police officers and five invigilators in connection with the leaking of state board examination papers a few days ago.

The Board of School Education (BSEH) in Haryana conducted the Class 12 English examination Thursday, which was reportedly leaked just 30 minutes after it began in the Nuh district, with images of the paper spreading on social media. In addition to the Class 12 leak, the Class 10 mathematics paper was also allegedly leaked in the Punhana district on Friday, February 28.

The government has taken strict action against the erring officials, according to an official release. To date, orders have been issued to suspend 25 police officers and personnel, including four deputy superintendents of police and three station house officers, for dereliction of duty.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said FIRs have been lodged against four invigilators from government schools and one invigilator from a private school.

Four invigilators from government schools and two centre supervisors have been suspended. Additionally, FIRs have been filed against 12 individuals, including eight students, for allegedly cheating or facilitating a paper leak at various examination centres. Saini has stated that an investigation is currently underway regarding this matter.

The chief minister stated that all deputy commissioners and superintendents of police have received strict instructions to ensure that no unauthorized individuals can approach any examination centre. These individuals must remain at least 500 metres away from the centre. If any complaints are received regarding this matter, the corresponding district administration will be held accountable.

As per the data made available by the Haryana Board, 5,064 cheating cases were registered in the year 2018, 4,444 in the year 2019, 3551 in the year 2022. Due to the new technology adopted by the Education Board, only 1,741 cases of unfair means were registered in 2023, and only 807 cases of use of unfair means have been registered this year across the state.
