The University of Delhi (DU) will soon start the counselling process and seat allotment for the academic year 2024-2025. Like last year, this time too, the admission process has been delayed due to a delay in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2024 result, caused by various factors.

Now, Delhi University has kickstarted the second phase of its admissions under the Common Seat Allocation System (Undergraduate). More than 2.7 lakh candidates have registered in the first phase, as per the university.

Where to find information related to the admission process?

Students can find information related to undergraduate admission from the official website. For instance for DU, students have to visit admissison.uod.ac.in. Likewise for JNU, applicants have to visit jnuee.jnu.ac.in. Students can also stay updated by following indianexpress.com.

Do students need to key in their CUET UG 2024 marks?

No, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has already sent your CUET scores to the universities. The CUET score will be visible in your CSAS portal when you start applying.

When will supernumerary seats be released?

Supernumerary seats will be released along with the third seat allocation list, DU officials announced recently.

Will CUET UG 2023 scores be taken into consideration for admission?

No, Delhi University will only accept CUET UG 2024 scores into consideration for admissions in the academic year 2024-25.

What documents should a student keep handy during the admission process?

What if a student uploaded a DigiLocker screenshot instead of the original marksheet for the board result?

Screenshots from DigiLocker are also acceptable. It would be preferable if they could upload their original mark sheet, but the admission of the candidate will not be cancelled. Eligible candidates will have to reproduce their original marksheets to the college authorities when asked for it at the later stage of admissions. CBSE students’ marksheets are already available with DU, a senior official said.

What is the fee structure of top colleges and universities?

As Delhi University recently hiked the fees of the courses, students have to check the course fee from the official website of each college. It is advisable to visit the official website for the course structure and other details.

Will there be any disadvantages for gap year students?

No, students with any year gap can easily apply for undergraduate courses in any University, provided they have appeared for the CUET UG 2024. At the same time, DU will also be using the Class 12 marks obtained in the board exams to fill the remaining vacant seats after the regular admission rounds conclude.

What are the rules of the reservation in DU?

Rules for reservation differ according to the University. The Delhi University adheres to central government policies in matters of reservation and relaxation, and to avail the same under EWS, OBC, SC, and ST quota a candidate has to produce a valid certificate from a competent authority. Students are advised to visit the official admission website to learn more about it.

If a student wants to apply at St Stephen College or Jesus and Mary College, do they need to apply separately?

Yes, students who are interested in applying to St Stephen College or Jesus and Mary College, will have to apply twice. First on the official DU CSAS portal, and then they have to fill out a college-specific application which is provided on the official websites of both colleges.

Which disabilities are included for admission to DU?

“As per the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, not less than five percent (5%) seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities,” read the website.

The University has recognised five types of disabilities and they have also mentioned other issues within it. Students with disabilities are advised to visit the admission website to learn more.
