The Nehru College of Management (NCM) Coimbatore hosted a national-level intercollegiate cultural meet for undergraduate students. Named Genesis 2024, the cultural meet was organised by the Student Development Council (SDC). The event attracted over 3,200 students from 57 colleges across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The opening ceremony held on February 9, 2024 set the stage for a day of excitement, with renowned cinema actors and YouTubers VJ Saasi Selvaraj and VJ Arun Kumar as chief guests. Sharing anecdotes from their college days, they inspired the young audience by highlighting the importance of creativity and cultural engagement alongside academics. Adding to the star power were guests from the movie Byri, including Director John Glady, lead actors Syed Majeed and Meghnaa Ellan, and musician Arun Raj. Dr R Moses Daniel, Principal of NCM, welcomed the attendees, while Dr. P. Krishnakumar, CEO and Secretary of the Nehru Group of Institutions, delivered the presidential address. Their words underscored the event's mission to promote holistic development among students, an official statement said. The day featured 14 competitive events ranging from music and dance to short film and face painting. Key highlights included group dance, music and fashion show. The students showcased their talents and were awarded prizes in cash and trophies worth Rs 3 lakhs. In addition to student competitions, Genesis 2024 featured electrifying live performances by guest artists. A skit from the movie Byri by its director and cast enthralled the audience, offering an inspiring look at professional artistry. The event culminated in a grand closing ceremony, with winners celebrated and applauded for their efforts. A special performance by NCM’s cultural group added a fitting finale to the day. The organising committee expressed gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and sponsors, pledging to continue fostering cultural engagement through future events. Genesis 2024 was more than just a cultural meet – it was a celebration of diversity, creativity, and teamwork, the statement added saying that by bringing together students from varied backgrounds, the event underscored the importance of cultural exchange in building the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
