Chandigarh University gets UGC nod to start distance, online education

Chandigarh University, Gharuan, received the nod from the University Grants Commission (UGC-Distance Education Council) to start its distance programmes from January 2020 session.

Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Dr RS Bawa announced about the new additions to the courses provided at the university. Dr Bawa said, “Chandigarh University will start its admissions in distance and online education programmes from January 2020.”

In its first phase, it will offer 10 programmes, including BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BA, MA English, MA Psychology, BSc Travel and Tourism, BCom and MCom.

He said, “Students, who enrolled under distance and online programmes of Chandigarh University will be offered placement assistance and foreign education academic programme under the University International Academic Alliance Programme.”

The university will provide a choice-based academic model to students, including the students enrolled for distance education.

Further, Dr Bawa said, “Students of distance education will be able to avail benefit from the NAAC A+ status of the university as the academic degree from the university will be globally acceptable and the degree holders will be able to credit transfer to foreign

universities under the Washington Accord.”

“Chandigarh University has developed a technology driven academic delivery platform through which students from across the country will be able to access quality academic learning material, e-lectures, e-library resources and value addition industry certification programmes that will enhance learning and also give a boost to the students’ job prospects” he said.
