The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the establishment of the new regional offices, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and sub-regional offices to streamline its administrative network and strengthen academic governance across the country. According to the notification issued by CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, the decision was approved in the Finance Committee meeting held on December 12, 2024, and ratified by the governing body on December 26, 2024.
With subsequent approval from the controlling authority, the Ministry of Education, the Board will operationalise these offices between August and September 2025.
Gurugram Office (CoE)
Located at Gurugram Technology Park, this office will oversee 12 southern districts of Haryana, including Bhiwani, Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Palwal, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak, and Sonipat. It will begin operations on September 1, 2025.
Lucknow Office
Situated in Gomti Nagar Extension, the Lucknow office will manage 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh, such as Amethi, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Etawah, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mathura, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, and Unnao, starting from September 1, 2025.
Raipur Office (CoE)
Based at CSIDC Corporate Tower, Raipur, this office will handle schools in Chhattisgarh, effective August 22, 2025.
Ranchi Office (CoE)
Located at Bansal Bhawan, Ranchi, it will govern schools across Jharkhand, commencing August 22, 2025.
Agartala
The new office in West Tripura will cater to schools in Tripura, starting from September 15, 2025.
Itanagar
Set up at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Gohpur Tinali, Itanagar, this office will serve Arunachal Pradesh, effective August 22, 2025.
Gangtok
Based in Tadong, Gangtok, the office will oversee Sikkim, beginning August 22, 2025.
The CBSE notification clarified that all schools affiliated with the Board will henceforth be governed by their respective new offices as per jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the Board has issued an advisory warning students, parents, and other stakeholders about misleading claims being circulated by unauthorised sources. According to the Board, some platforms are falsely offering “quick solutions” for the issuance of duplicate mark sheets, certificates, and document corrections.
