The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued a formal clarification regarding biometric attendance issues reported during the 71st Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Preliminary round held on September 13.
Several examination centres experienced technical difficulties in capturing biometric data, prompting concerns among candidates about the validity of their attendance and potential impact on eligibility. In response, BPSC confirmed that manual attendance records, including signatures on duplicate admit cards, will be accepted as legitimate proof of presence.
This clarification comes in contrast to an earlier BPSC notification that had mandated biometric and facial recognition as compulsory for candidates to exit the exam hall. The sudden procedural shift sparked confusion and criticism on social media, with candidates questioning the reliability of the system and calling for greater transparency.
BPSC reassured aspirants that their candidature remains valid as long as their physical attendance was duly marked by invigilators. Meanwhile, the Commission has announced recruitment for Assistant Education Development Officers (AEDO) under the Education Department, Bihar. A total of 935 vacancies have been announced. The online registration process has started and will end on September 26. Candidates can apply online through the official website at bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
The recruitment drive offers a total of 935 posts for Assistant Education Development Officers, distributed across different categories. Out of these, 374 posts are for Unreserved (UR) candidates, 131 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 150 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 10 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 168 for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), 112 for Backward Classes (BC), and 90 for Backward Class Women (BCW).
